This is a great read, with some important tips/facts for helping your student succeed in Middle School. Follow this link:
https://kidshealth.org/en/parents/school-help-middle.html?WT.ac=p-raFootball finishes up their season on October 9th @ Spring Hill
The 8th grade is 3-3 this year. They started out with a couple of big wins and then ran into some very talented teams in the middle of the schedule. Throughout their two years in middle school they have made a lot of improvement and are really starting to develop into a group that could have a bright future. This group is starting to figure out what they do well and that is making them a solid team.
Volleyball comes to a close on October 6th with League Tournaments; 8th @Ottawa; 7th @Spring Hill
Cross Country wraps up with League on October 4th @ Eudora
Girls Basketball and Wrestling Season begin!
Wrestling season will kick off on October 10th with practice after school. 7th//8th grade wrestling is a fast and furious schedule. They will kick off with a home opener on October 25th and conclude with a league tournament on November 10th. If you have any questions, please contact Russ Hermreck at russell_hermreck@usd368.org.
End of the Quarter - What does that mean for eligibility?
The benefit for students to stay active goes beyond just staying physically fit and/or beneficial social interactions. Participating in activities can develop habits that reach beyond the school years. Children who do not participate can become less sociable and more isolated as they spend more and more time home alone. This will have an effect on their mental health and habits, which in turn will make them less inclined to get up and be active as adults. At Paola Middle School, we want all of our students to actively participate. Please encourage your student to become involved in an activity, club, or sport at school.
NEW STAFF SPOTLIGHT AMBER SCOUTEN
Written by 7th Graders- Hayley Hines, Jade Meade, & Bailey Donahue
“Everybody is a genius but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree then it will live its life feeling stupid” - Albert Einstein. That’s Mrs. Scouten’s favorite quote, a new 6th grade teacher this year! She is the new Communications and Social Studies teacher. She was born and raised in the water winter wonderland (aka) Michigan. She was born on March 3rd . Mrs. Scouten didn’t like school until her freshman year of highschool. Her teacher inspired her, which made her work harder and like school. After high school she went to Graceland University in Iowa and majored in graphic design. After awhile she began to notice that it was boring, so she went back to college to major in teaching. She met a guy at a concert who is now her husband, his name is Steve. has two daughters named Bella and Peyton who attend classes in Spring Hill. Mrs. Scoutens favorite type of cake is red velvet. In her free time she likes to go shopping for anything comfortable. Her favorite subject to teach is Social Studies. She loves teaching kids about the past and present because sometimes kids haven’t traveled before. Her favorite color is purple. Mrs. Scoutens dream vacation is to go to Italy to visit all the historic sites in Rome. Her favorite animal is a gorilla, and her favorite board game is scrabble. One of Mrs.Scoutens favorite authors are John Grisham. If Mrs.Scouten wasn’t a teacher she would want a limitless bank account, and she would be a world traveler. Last but not least, Mrs.Scouten wants to be remembered by having a strong enough relationship with students to have a great impact on their lives. We hope that Mrs. Scouten has a great first year at Paola Middle School.
