Join us and learn how to explore the power of wind and solar with your students! Participants will review energy and electricity basics, design and test blades in a wind tunnel, use KEEP's newest lending resource, Solar Tilt Kits, and preview ready-to-use energy lessons and activities. During this workshop, participants will learn about the annual WI KidWind Challenge and gain tips and tricks for coaching student teams through the process of designing and constructing small-scale turbines. Educators will leave with the resources and confidence to use renewable energy as a lens into hands-on science, technology, and engineering exploration in the classroom. KidWind and KEEP Solar Tilt Kits are best for 4th - 12th grade students. Certificates of attendance and substitute reimbursement to school districts (up to $150/educator) will be provided upon requests to wnelson@cesa10.k12.wi.us.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants will learn about wind and solar energy and it's application in the classroom.
- Participants will review ready-to-use lessons in solar and wind energy.
- Participants will tour the CVTC energy center to learn about how renewable energy is built into the design of the building.
FREE REGISTRATION UNTIL OCT. 7TH, AFTER $15 REGISTRATION.
This workshop is offered exclusively to those districts participating in Universal School Improvement Services (Discount will be automatically applied.) including: Abbotsford, Bloomer, Bruce, Chippewa Falls, Colby, Eau Claire, Eleva-Strum, Flambeau, Gilman, Gilmanton, Granton, Greenwood, Ladysmith, Lake Holcombe, Loyal, Mondovi, Neillsville, New Auburn, Osseo-Fairchild, Owen-Withee, Spencer, and Thorp.
