Welcome to Spring 2021!

January 20 is right around the corner!

Our school year will be a bit different. Your first class will meet online at 8:00 am on Wednesday, January 20. What do you need to know to prepare for class? Let us go through a step-by-step guide to Jaguar student success! Here is a welcome from your "homeroom teacher" Ms. Hinton!
2021 Spring Day 1 Planning

Step 1: Log into Wake ID

Follow the instructions here.


Your WAKE ID is typically your first initial + middle initial + last name (Ex. If student name is Andrew Drake Jaguar, WAKE ID is adjaguar. Email is WAKEID@students.wcpss.net (ex. adjaguar@students.wcpss.net)

Once you log into Wake ID, you will see a screen like this:

Step 2: In Wake ID, click on Homebase (Powerschool)

You will need to know your student id (lunch number) to log into Homebase.

Step 3: In Homebase (Powerschool), find out your class schedule and teachers' names.

Jot this information down or take a screenshot. You'll need this information! Feel free to use this student schedule template to add your class names and teacher names to the schedule information.


Note- you will have a new DriveTime (homeroom) teacher listed. Be sure to get that information as well! We will have DriveTime on Tuesdays!

Step 4: Find your teachers in the faculty directory

  • Go to https://www.wcpss.net/athensdrivehs
  • Click on Our School>Faculty Directory
  • Go to each teacher's website to find out what Learning Management System (LMS) they are using, either Canvas or Google Classroom. (Both Canvas and Google Classroom can be found in Wake ID.
  • If Google Classroom, get the join code and join. (*Note- this semester, you may already be added to your Google Classrooms. Here is a video to show how to join if you are already invited.
  • If Canvas, you simply go to Canvas and will find your class. (GO TO CANVAS AND CHECK YOUR INBOX TOO!)
  • Find your Google Meet links and save that information. You'll need it!

Step 5: Check your school email in Wake ID.

Step 6: Go to your class Google Meets!

The google meet codes will be in your school email (Outlook found in Wake ID) or in the teacher's Canvas or Google Classroom. Jot it down with your schedule so you are ready to go!


Your teacher may also use a nickname. If that is the case, you would go to https://meet.google.com/ and type in the join code. You MUST be connected to your student Wake ID account to get into a Google Meet.

Q: Where can I find my teacher's Google Meet?

A: Check the faculty directory for information and email your teacher.

Q: I type in the join code and it doesn't work. Why?

A: Are you on your Wake ID? It will not open otherwise. Here are additional instructions on how to go to a Google Meet.

Q: My sound doesn't work.

A: Here is a possible solution.

Q: My teacher is using Google Classroom. The code worked yesterday, but not today. What happened?

A: The Google Meet Codes in Google Classroom change daily. Go to the Google Classroom and click on the banner with the new link.
