Something new...
This week, Staff Development will be piloting a new system for all new Staff Development applications.
Although you won't see any difference in where you locate the forms or how you submit there will be a change upon receipt of your application as an automatic email will be generated:
- To you (the applicant)- you'll find a copy of your application via PDF
- To your line manager- they'll receive a copy of your application for approval
If you'd like to find out more about our experience of 'Going Google' and especially how we're automating our systems with the use of Google Apps for Education, please contact Helen.Hayes@sheffcol.ac.uk

Celebrating Success - Philip Richards, SRIS
Each month, we like to share a staff development success story. This week, we discover more about The Sheffield College learning journey of Philip Richards.
"I started working for the College in September 1994 as a temporary Evening Receptionist. The post was originally for 2 weeks – I am still here nearly 22 years later!
I was fairly well educated when I came to College and have A Levels. I also did Employment Training where I gained a Business Admin Level 2 and Word and Text Processing Level 2. With the help of The College and Staff Development I have gained more relevant qualifications over the years.
These qualifications include:
- Level 2 and Level 3 Customer Service
- L3 and L4 Business Administration
- Stage 3 Text and Word Processing."
All of these qualifications and continued learning experiences have contributed to Philip achieving his current post.
"I have had around 10 different job titles at the College over the 22 years and am now the Assistant Student Records Manager at City Campus."
