People in French- Speaking countries do a lot of their shopping at local stores. Supermarkets offer lower prices, but the people prefer food of a higher quality at specialty stores.
Meals
Lunch and Supper consists of several courses. Appetizer, Main Dish, Salad, and Dessert. Sometimes meals might have 9 courses. The french eat a variety of meats. At dinner it is normally a light meatless meal. Eggs are eaten at dinner but rarely at breakfast.
The Occasion
A meal is used to commemorate friendship and special occasions. New Year's is spent with friends, while birthdays and Christmas is spent with the family.
