New Principal - Ms. Nathanson

I wanted to share a little about myself, especially for those that were not able to attend the Back to School Night presentation. I have been in education for 34 years. I taught second, third, and fourth grade for 18 years in Dublin Unified School district where I was also part time vice principal for the last three years. For the last sixteen years I have been a principal in Livermore Joint Valley School District at three different elementary schools. Livermore schools returned to in person instruction last March, so I am familiar with the various procedures and precautions necessary.

I raised my two daughters in Livermore and now reside in Dublin with my dog Shadow. I am excited to serve as the Mission Valley principal and have enjoyed getting to know your students.

The First Month of School

It has been a wonderful month with your students. They have quickly acclimated to following safety protocols while at school. Students gel in and gel out with hand sanitizer whenever they leave the classroom or enter a new space. Extra masks are available to students whose masks get wet, dirty, or the straps break. Students are using water bottles that they can refill as needed. All water bottles should have the student name and room number on them.

Absent Students

If your student is absent, please call and speak with the attendance secretary, Claudia Fuentes. Before students return to class they must check in with the office.
Big picture

Upper grade finalists

Hoop-a-palooza

Our upper grade completed Hoop-a-palooza during their lunch recess with Mrs. Hughes. Fourth, fifth, and sixth graders were invited to participate, with the finalist from each grade levels competing in the end. Students had to walk forward, backward, turn around and hop during the competition. In the last round they had to use two hula hoops.

Kindergarten Lunch

Kindergarten students are eligible to receive a free lunch. If you would like your student to receive a lunch to take home please tell them they will be getting a hot lunch so they can let the teacher know. Students will pick up their lunches before going home and will eat them at home.

Book Fair

Your students will be visiting the Book Fair during their usual library time from October 4th through October 8th. Please consider signing up for eWallet for their purchases. Cash will also be accepted. There is also a Virtual Fair for you to select books with your student. The Virtual Fair runs from September 26th through October 9th. A flyer was sent home in your student's Friday Folder.

Please visit our Book Fair homepage for more information:

Drop Off/Pick Up

In order to keep all students safe and expedite the time it takes for drop off and pick up, please follow the expectations below.

1. Drivers stay in the car at all times.

2. Drivers should pull up whenever there is space.

3. Students should have their mask and backpack with them so they can quickly exit or enter the car.

4. Students should exit from the curb side of the car to avoid exiting traffic.

5. Drivers may exit the drop off/pick line by pulling to the left after releasing or picking up students.

6. Walkers should use the crosswalk whenever crossing the drive through.

We thank all parents who have been following the rule and picking up students on time.
