Emily Brennan

Position: Agriculture Teacher

Background Info:

Coming back to ACS as a teacher is a full circle moment for me. I have been given the opportunity to serve students with a program I had wished for back when I was a student here. After graduating ACS, I went on to SUNY Cobleskill for a Pre-vet degree as well as a Crop Production degree. My career has covered row crops, bovine reproduction, animal cloning, animal pharmaceuticals, herd health, and much much more. I am beyond excited to share my expertise and first-hand experience with my students. I am so thankful for the admin support and community support for this agriculture program. Students will learn not only where food comes from, but also what it takes to get to their plate. Perhaps not many will become farmers after graduation, but all will be consumers. I strongly believe in agriculture and its foundational significance to our society. Our youth is the future and I am honored to have a role in cultivating our future leaders.

When not busy working on our family farm, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I am actively involved with Farm Bureau and represent Steuben County as a Young Farmer, as well as serve on the NY Young Farmer board. A hobby I recently started is dog agility with my border collie Amelia- we will compete in our first trial next month!

Favorite Artists: Zach Bryan, Ryan Bingham, Kip Moore, Miranda Lambert, way too many to list!

Favorite Food: Chicken wing pizza

Wildest experience: Swimming with sharks in the ocean- without a cage!

Animal fact: Sheep don’t have top teeth!

Mr. David Hargrave, Avoca American Legion Representative

Mr. David Hargrave joined our sixth grade last Friday to teach a brief history of the flag, share parts of his own life history, and encourage students to step outside of their comfort zone. Students were taught the proper way to fold a flag, put the flag up, and take it down with respect. We are so grateful for the opportunity to share in Mr. Hargrave's love of his country and to pass his knowledge on to the next generation! Thank you!
