WEEKLY WONDERS
Charles Ellis Montessori Academy, 24th August 2020

"Beware the Ides of March"
When I returned to the building back in June, it was eerily quiet and the strangest , most gut-wrenching thing, was the date that remained on many classroom whiteboards -
Friday 13th March, scripted in beautiful cursive. Two days later would be the Ides of March. Both dates are often associated with portents of doom, but the Ides of March, in Roman times, was also the deadline for paying off any outstanding debts. What debts had we as humans incurred that would cause our world to spin into apparent chaos?
Turn now to this past Wednesday, August 19th, not a remarkable date in our minds under normal circumstances. The building was again eerily quiet and, despite the anticipation of the sky falling down and everything we had worked towards falling apart, it would have appeared to the lay person, as being a fairly uneventful day. However, I knew in the background much was happening. The Charles Ellis Montessori Community was up and running, fulfilling our mission to "Educate the Whole Child for a Whole World". The BIG WORK was underway both in the building and in the ether. Never in arrears, we were contributing to the coffers, paying it forward with kindness and love.
And did you know? August 19th was World Humanitarian Day.
Serendipity prevails and we are given a signal of HOPE!
