A Message from Mr. H.
I had the pleasure of meeting one of our new Kindergarten students recently. Her name is Gabriella (see selfie below). We had a great chat as I gave her a tour of our school. I showed her the classrooms and the cafeteria. We met Mrs. Sullivan, Mrs. Rush, Mr. Hammond, Miss Jolly, Mrs. Glavin, Mrs. Silverstein, and Mrs. Arnold, just to name a few. We talked about her favorite color, pink, and about her amazing taste in hats. As I showed Gabriella our Reading Garden she said to me, "I can't read, YET!" I was struck by this 5 year olds' statement and I told her so. I said, "Gabby, I loved that word you used at the end there... YET... that is a powerful word, and it tells me a lot about you as a person. It tells me that you are ready to learn. I am so excited for you to come to our school this year and learn to read!"
One simple word made up of three letters... YET... can be a very powerful word. When working hard towards a goal, like reading, roadblocks and obstacles are undoubtedly going to get in the way. I believe that if our students put in the effort and stay determined when things get tough, they will succeed. As adults (teachers, parents, grandparents) we need to model this mindset for our children. Show enthusiasm for your work and be an active participant in your child's life. Finish what you start. Stay committed to your goals, and most importantly, keep working hard even when you feel like quitting. Be determined!
Our PK-2 schools have a shared theme this school year. Through this theme, "Just Imagine..." students, staff, and families will have more opportunities to be creative inside and outside of the classroom. There will be a concerted effort to encourage students and staff to take healthy risks and climb into higher levels of thinking by extending beyond comprehension/understanding/application into new ideas and innovation. Just imagine if all of our students approached each day with a growth mindset... "I'm not a reader yet, but I will be!" "I'm not an artist yet, but I will be!" "I'm not an inventor yet, but I will be!"
I am super excited to begin a new school year and work closely with our Moreau Hall Family to take our students to new heights. Just imagine what we can accomplish when we work together!

At Moreau Hall each grade has a service project that we support. In first grade we help support School on Wheels of Massachusetts (SOWMA). As part of our service project, grade one collects school supplies to donate to SOWMA a couple of times during the school year. Our first collection will be during the Back to School Picnic on August 29th from 5-7 pm. When you and your student are back to school shopping, please consider picking up extra supplies for a child in need. We greatly appreciate your support to this worthy organization.
Thank you,
The Grade 1 Team

Morning Student Drop Off
We ask for your assistance and cooperation in ensuring that the “morning student drop off” procedure and rules are followed properly. Students who attend M.H. are afforded the opportunity to ride the bus. You may also choose to drive your children to school.
If you are dropping students off in the morning it is imperative that you park in a marked parking space and walk your children into the school. Simply pulling up and dropping children off while you wait in the car is unsafe and not allowed, as we have no crossing guard or staff member outside to supervise this. Children should not be walking across the driveway unattended. If you arrive before 8:55 am, parents/guardians are asked to stay with the students in the cafeteria until they are dismissed to their classrooms at 8:55 am. There is no “school supervision” before 8:55 am and students should NOT be left unattended.
Once your children are dismissed to their classroom, you should exit our parking lot through the Stonehill College access road that is at the far south end of the lot.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Mrs. Silverstein's Reading Corner
Welcome Back!
This is going to be a very exciting year at Moreau Hall. New students, new teachers, innovative programs and so much more. A new initiative that I’d like to try out is a BOOK SWAP for the students. I would need a variety of books to start off with before the students were able to start swapping them. So often parents buy books for their kids and then don’t know what to do once they outgrow them. So, if you have any gently used books (appropriate for the K-2 population) that you’d like to donate please feel free to drop them off with me. I will collect, sort and level them for the students. Keep an eye out for when the swap will take place, and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me at: Ksilverstein@easton.k12.ma.us

Easton Public Schools Activity Fee
Each year we ask families to pay an activity fee, which goes to support various activities in town. For Moreau Hall, the biggest activity that is supported through this fee is our connection to Sheep Pasture. In addition to our students going to Sheep Pasture in the spring, the teachers from this great program visit Moreau Hall during the winter to work with each classroom. It is a fantastic learning experience for our students.
The Kindergarten fee for this year is included in K Tuition. The activity fee for grades 1 & 2 students is $40. Please click the link below to pay the fee by October 6th.Is your CORI check up to date?
We love having visitors in our building, but the safety of our students, staff and families is our number one concern.
If you or another family member plan to volunteer for field trips or to work in your child’s classroom, we ask that you complete a CORI form (Criminal Offender Record Information). These forms are good for 3 years. If you are a returning family and believe that you have a valid CORI form on file, please check with the main office.
