Celebrate American Education Week, Nov. 15-19
Next week we join school districts across the nation in celebrating American Education Week, Nov. 15-19. This is a time to celebrate public education and honor those who make a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education. That includes the educators and support professionals in our schools as well as the parents, guardians, and community leaders. When it comes to educating Blue Valley students, we’re all in it together.
Along with some of the activities our schools may have planned, we look to our great community to help celebrate American Education Week across our schools.
Monday 11/15 - AEW Kickoff: Every Blue Valley school is filled with caring, qualified and committed educators. Start off American Education Week by writing a thank you letter to an educator, support professional or administrator that has helped you the most.
Tuesday 11/16 - Student Success: Everywhere you look in our schools you will find talented and hardworking students. Our students are what make this district one of the best in the nation. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as we highlight some of our student successes throughout the year.
Wednesday 11/17 - Educational Support Professionals Day: Our schools couldn’t operate without custodial and maintenance workers, food services staff, paraprofessionals, school resource officers, bus drivers, front office staff and the countless other education support professionals. Teachers, students, and families bring, or email, a thank you letter to educational support professionals in your school.
Thursday 11/18 - An Inside Look At Our Schools: American Education Week celebrates public schools. We want to give the community an inside look at our schools in action. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as we visit several schools to show our spaces and share what students are learning in their classrooms.
Friday 11/19 - Show Your School Pride: Nothing shows you love your school more than repping your school’s colors! Each and every school has a deep enriched history. By repping your school colors, you show appreciation for the entire school community. Staff, students and their families are encouraged to wear your school colors on Friday!

BV Thanks our School Psychologists
In Blue Valley, we understand the importance of a balance between supporting academic pursuits and the whole child. Blue Valley is fortunate to have a counselor, school psychologist and a social worker assigned to every single building within the district to support this work. These professionals are often referred to as the Care Team.
This week, Blue Valley celebrated an important member of the Care Team, our school psychologists, during National School Psychology Week. Take a minute to learn more about these dedicated professionals and how they support students, families and staff in this month’s People of BV video.
Open House to Preview Preliminary Boundaries for Elementary 24
The Blue Valley School District’s Facility Planning Board Advisory Committee has been carefully reviewing potential boundary options for Elementary 24, tentatively scheduled to open in August 2023. The new elementary, built with voter approved funds from the 2020 bond referendum, is located amidst a rapidly growing area in the southern portion of the district and will provide much needed enrollment relief to Wolf Springs Elementary. The boundary option under consideration will be available for review at an Open House from 5:30 - 7 p.m. on Nov. 17 at Wolf Springs Elementary. No formal presentation will be given at the Open House, but Blue Valley staff members will be on hand to answer patron questions and gather feedback. The committee plans to make a formal recommendation for preliminary Elementary 24 boundaries to the Blue Valley Board of Education at the Dec. 13 meeting.
More information is available on the Elementary 24 website page, including FAQ’s .
COVID-19 Testing and Resources for BV Staff, Students and Families
Throughout this school year, Blue Valley’s priorities have been the safety of our students and keeping students in school and in person as we know this is critical to their long-term success and well-being. MAWD Labs is offering a local COVID-19 testing option that is available for students, staff and their family members. This option is available through a Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) grant provided directly to MAWD Labs.
