Coins for a Cause: TEAM JAKE
The Monteith Student Council voted to help one of our own for the November giving service project. The council decided to collect coins for first grader, Jake P. Posters were made, the council encouraged participation on the daily announcements, and kids were encouraged to earn their coins by completing an extra chore at home or even searching couch cushions!
The coins came in quickly and the final total raised for Jake was an astounding $1,210.14!!!
We were also able to purchase a few gifts for Jake as he starts his next round of treatment.
Way to go Monteith families and friends. Your support is amazing! Stay strong Jake. Your Monteith Tigers are behind you all the way! #teamjake
The Helping Hands Club giving back in so many ways!
Helping Hands helped create a wreath for the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House Contest
Thank you Helping Hands for all your hard work!
Pick up/Drop off: SAFETY MATTERS (PLEASE WAIT YOUR TURN AND USE COMMON SENSE)
A few of the most interesting facts were (based on those that completed the survey)
-73% of our Families drop off between 8:15-8:25 ( we had some honest write -ins, that said they know the bell rings at 8:20 mornings are just tough)
-87% drive students to school and pick them up each day
Top 5 Concerns:
1. Adults Jaywalking
2. Adults Parking towards the end of the driveway blocking exit
3. Adults Speeding
4. Adults parked in DROP OFF Circle (longer than necessary)
5. Adults double parking
Updates:
- We are ordering signs for the Bus lane and drop off lane
- In the spring we will again paint the arrows and cross walks ( this is done in the spring after the Snow & Salt)
- The school does not have funds to hire Parking lot attendants, We try to have 3-4 staff members monitoring the parking lot helping with traffic. Please be respectful we are putting safety first!
-One Suggestion that will be considered if adults can not abide by traffic laws is closing the parking lot at a certain time 3:15-3:45 to stop the traffic back up.
This was suggested by parents and public safety since we are one of the only Elementary schools that has a parking lot used for pick up and drop off.
We will have a Parking lot info meeting at 6 pm in the Library on December 13th. Directly following the meeting will be Our Monthly PTO meeting which we would love to have parents stay for to find out what is coming up in the next few months.
All Nomination forms for Magnet are Due December 12th
