News from the View!

Dedicated to furthering the lives of our students.

Hello,

I hope your staying warm, and have had a good start to the New Year! A big thank you goes out to all of student performers at our most recent assembly talent show. The performances were a huge hit and our students, and staff really enjoyed themselves. Be sure to periodically check the school's website, and calendar to see many more exciting things planned for this school year.

As we make our way through the winter months, I wanted to take a moment to share a few cold weather FYI’s as they relate to school. Any cancellations of school programs or co-curricular activities or events will be placed on the district's website as soon as the decision to cancel them has been made. Please be sure to check the website if you think something may be canceled due to inclement weather.

In case you missed!

At North View Middle School we believe that no significant learning can occur without a significant relationship. Because of this belief, we spend a considerable amount of time during the school year as a school community to make real connections, develop a positive school and celebrate student success. Some of those activities are highlighted below.

Not only are we building community with our learners, but we are also engaging your students in a variety of learning experiences. At North View Middle School we believe that using the distinctive nature of young adolescents as the foundation upon which all decisions about school organization, policies, curriculum, instruction, and assessment are made is crucial to their success. One of such decision that was made this year was to offer flexible seating options to our students.
Are you looking for a good book for your student during these long winter months? If so, take a look at the young adult reading recommendations by Allison Siroy, NVMS 8th grade English teacher at the link below.

About me.

Hello,

This is my fifth year serving as principal of North View Middle School. Before coming to North View, a large portion of my professional career has been spent with Osseo Area schools, six of which were spent working as the Assistant Principal of Osseo Senior High. Before that, I spent time as a Dean of Students for Richfield High School and middle school level Science teacher and behavior dean with the Minneapolis public school system.

While in Minneapolis, I spent five wonderful years teaching middle level Science at Lincoln Community School and Anishanabe Academy to sixth, seventh and eighth grader and two years providing academic and behavioral support while working as dean. My past experiences have shaped my core beliefs and philosophy of education. For me, schools must be an integral part of the community they serve. They should also be focused on high expectations for all students, and through developmentally appropriate and strong instructional practices, give students the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to exceed these expectations.
