The Hoot Owl

Welcome to ORE!

We are so excited about the start of school on Wednesday. Just a few reminders about the first few weeks as that time arrives.

Wednesday - Friday - Parents may walk children directly to the classrooms. If you need help finding your classroom or your teacher's name, please enter from the front of the building and allow staff members there to assist you. We do ask, however, that you drop them off, snap a quick picture and exit the building. We do try to get students started into their day quickly so that they make the transition with few or no tears.

Starting Monday, August 19 - Parents will be required to check in at the front desk with your id in order to walk your child to class.

On Tuesday, September 3, parents will not be allowed to walk students back to class. We will have plenty of support down the hallways to ensure your child gets to the appropriate location. This helps your child establish routine and be ready to learn as they enter the building.

Make sure that you communicate with the teacher about transportation for the first day, week, and rest of the year. The more consistent you are with transportation home, the better for your child so that there is no confusion. We do our best to be 100% in transportation home, but with frequently changing, a misunderstanding could occur.

First day paperwork will be sent home with your child to give you some specific information about our school. Please take time to review all the paperwork, sign and return anything that needs to be returned by Friday. We appreciate your assistance in this matter.

We still have about 100 families that have not updated information through SnapCode. Please take a moment to take care of this. We depend on updated information for a variety of reasons so it is important that we have the most current information on file. If you don't have your child's snapcode any longer, you may call the front office to obtain that code.

NEAT Club (Never Ever Absent or Tardy)

Attendance at school is vital for the learning process. We have brought back our NEAT Club this school year. Each nine weeks students earn prizes for being at school every day during the nine weeks and being on time. Please help your child earn those prizes by having them at school daily.

Please be patient in the morning and the afternoon with transportation the first few weeks of school. The times posted for a bus to arrive are just estimated as drivers learn routes and students. If you have any concerns, please call the school and we will do our best to assist you.

Morning and afternoon car rider is always busy the first few days. The earlier you arrive, the quicker you will be get in and out. Our front doors will open at 7:50 a.m. daily. Please follow the car rider line pictures below for both the morning and afternoon. This will help keep us backed up off the freeway and moving at a quicker pace. Just like everything, the first few days of car rider are long. Within a few weeks, we usually complete car rider line no longer than 3:30 p.m.

Afternoon car rider parents must stay in their cars and follow the line. Parents are not allowed to walk up and retrieve children from the front doors. This causes a safety issue for all.

BUS RIDER SIGNS - All PK and Kinder parents will be required to have a Bus Rider sign (much like car rider sign) to retrieve your child from the bus. If you do not have one, please pick one up on the first day of school from your child's teacher or request one be sent home with your child. Any adult with the sign will then be allowed to retrieve your child off the bus.

WALKERS - Remember that in order to be a walker from school you must live in the area that does not receive transportation, the one mile no bus radius. You will receive a letter the first day that will need to be signed and returned outlining our policy for our walkers. Please take a minute to review that, sign it and return it. Also in the letter will be a code for you to use if you wish to receive text messages through Remind 101 in the event of inclement weather.

Our Parent Information/Title One Night will be held on September 19 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. This is different from Meet the Teacher in that it will be your opportunity to hear the expectations from the teachers for the year and sign up for a fall conference. This is a great time of learning for parents and it is my desire to have as many of you attend as possible so please mark the date on your calendar.

The student handbook can be accessed online at under the Parent/Student tab. Once you establish a Parent Access account, there is a place to electronically sign that you have reviewed the handbook. Please take time to create that account, if you have not already done so, and then sign electronically that you have reviewed the handbook. If you would like a paper copy of the handbook, please drop by the front office and notify us of that. We will be happy to get you a paper copy with a receipt form.

All communication from the school will be electronic this school year. In order to stay well informed, please ensure that the campus has your most current email address on file.

We have an amazing PTO. They are always looking for volunteers so please consider being a part of this organization that helps our school in so many ways. The cost per family is $5. They will be at Meet the Teacher and will be sending home paperwork to join prior to that night.

Each year, in order to volunteer at ORE, parents and other family members must complete a volunteer application with the district. Please take time to complete that using the link below.

Just a reminder that Free/Reduced lunch status must be applied for yearly. The sooner you apply will hopefully ensure no interruption. You can apply online at the following link If you need assistance, Virginia Vera, PEIMS/registrar, will be happy to assist you.

Students who were on free/reduced last school year will continue on until September 26. If a new application hasn't been submitted and accepted, students will be required to pay full price starting September 27. In order to prevent interruption, please make sure you have submitted a new application this school year.
