Spring Break starts soon.
Spring Break starts this Friday, March 11, for the kids. Teachers will be here with me working on our SEM projects and learning more about effective questioning techniques. The third quarter report cards will be sent home on March 29th. You can view your child's progress any time on PowerSchool.
If your child will be attending Tustumena during the 2016-17 school year please notify Mrs. Mills to update student information. (Unless you have already done so.)

Health Tip from Mrs. Abel
“One way to reduce stress and increase sense of control is to keep one’s time and surroundings organized. To become more organized, you can reduce clutter (get rid of what you don’t need), prioritize enriching activities (eliminate those that waste your time or have minimal gain), and use a planner or checklist to keep track of obligations.”
Baked Goods!!
The PTO is requesting parent help! We need baked goods for the Easter Egg Hunt Bake Sale on March 26th. All proceeds will help support the Kasilof Boys and Girls Club. Information on School Safety and cyber-bullying from District Office
KPBSD school safety and cyber-bullying
School Safety
Student safety and maintaining a safe environment in our schools is a top priority in KPBSD. When a complaint or concern arises in a school or at the district level, we will investigate, and work with necessarily entities such as law enforcement, OCS, or other agencies depending upon a specific situation. Actions may also include confidential distribution of internal warnings or briefings to school administration or staff about a situation or individual who has been trespassed from school properties. Our schools have one unlocked entrance door during the school day, all visitors must check-in at the office, every volunteer goes through a background screen, and every school regularly practices intruder drills, using the A.L.I.C.E. protocol.
Cyber-bullying
Specific to protecting children from cyber-bullying, digital citizenship is taught through the health curriculum, for all K-12 classes. This instruction using Common Sense Media (CSM) Curriculum specifically teaches students about cyber-bullying. In the event of cyber-bullying using email, the district has the ability to:
remove email messages from student or staff accounts
quarantine or blacklist individual email addresses
disable student email with a parental request
Our Google app service scans all incoming email for potential spam or inappropriate content. Depending upon the circumstances, KPBSD can and will issue a trespass from our schools which can include specific instructions about communicating through the district network systems at any time of day or night. Additionally, the district can issue a prohibition about contacting a student during the school day or school sponsored activity via any medium, including cellular telephones and social media. Finally, the district will provide support to a student from the principal, or selected staff, so he or she can let them know of concerns, or inappropriate or prohibited contact.
Students, parents, and staff: if you have concerns about bullying, please contact your school principal.
