Bittersweet end and exciting new beginnings
Well, it is a very bittersweet ending to this summer. Kidz Count has been a part of Wesley for over 20 years and it has grown to be such a great program for our youth in this community!
The past few months have been a whirlwind and very busy with summer activities and field trips and such.
We were able to go to 605Ninja one more time, and we had our little program on August 9th. Since schools weren't serving lunches after July 29, we had many wonderful homemade meals here, such as spaghetti, goulash, pancakes and other things. We were able to let some of the kids learn cooking skills, math skills and safety skills while helping in the kitchen!
As Kidz Count comes to a close for the summer and we start after school programming in the school itself, I want to again thank you so much for all of the support, collaboration and volunteering Wesley United has provided. We truly could not do this program here at the church without you and have enjoyed all of our time with you. Remember, the door is not closed, you are welcome to check with me, Saundra, about volunteering or doing a special program or just finding out how we are doing. There will be opportunities to volunteer on a wider basis with Thrive, be on the lookout for that!
On a personal note, I want you to know that I consider this church and all of the members here my first church family. You were the ones who took me in and befriended me and let me do crazy things with music on a weekly basis. Thank you so much for being here for me and letting me be part of this church family. I love you all!
Please stay in contact with me, text me, email me, or call me. I am only a phone call away and I will be at Terry Redlin or Garfield most of the time.
Again, thank you for everything you have started and done for this program. It is bigger and growing because of your dreams for this community and all of the things you have done. Together we can make this community stronger and our children successful!
