The CEC Mathematics Department is excited to host the 2023 National Pi Day Celebration on Tuesday March 14, 2023.

Free Online Tutoring with Paper


Our representative from Paper (the free online tutoring and writing assistance program for APS students) will visit our 9th grade ELA students on Tuesday, March 21st during their ELA class periods to demonstrate and answer questions.


With Paper, students can start an online chat on over 200 subjects and receive feedback on essays,college applications, resumes, and more for FREE. Paper is available 24hrs a day, 365 days a year, through MyBackpack.

APS 150 Years Celebration Parade


The APS celebration of 150 years of history-making continues, and we are excited to announce the Atlanta Public Schools’ 150th Anniversary Parade, which will take place on Saturday, April 22nd beginning at 10 a.m. at Carver High School (and ending at Lakewood Stadium.)

This amazing day of festivities features performers, entertainers, and most importantly, a showcase of floats representing our APS community. We’re excited to share this moment with all students, families, communities, and APS alumni!

You can be a part of the parade! All APS stakeholders are invited to sign up for placement in the parade, and we are also looking for volunteers. APS internal stakeholders can join for free and APS external stakeholders can participate for a nominal fee. Visit atlantapublicschools.us/150 to learn more and sign up. Carver Early College to Support STEAM Event at Sylvan Hills

The CEC 9th Grade Team, along with our Parent Liaison, will be engaging with rising 9th grade scholars, Parents and Families as they attend STEAM Night hosted by Sylvan Hills Middle School on Tuesday, March 14th, at 5:30 pm. If your child is transitioning to Carver Early College in 2023-2024, or you are seeking information in general regarding rising 9th graders, please join us for this wonderful event.

Carver Early College Club Updates

Book Club & a NEW Manga Club

The Carver EC Book Club meets every day during advisement in the Media Center. Students must check-in with advisement teachers and get a pass. We are currently reading Ace of Spades and Ain't Burned All the Bright.


NEW: Manga Club! Student-created, student-led club open to all students interested in Manga & Anime. Discussion, watch parties, Japanese and Korean snacks, and more!

Every Friday in the Media Center during Advisement (must check in with Advisor and get a Media Center Pass to attend)

Hello Panther Families!


The Carver EC library media center is open for browsing, reading, and checkout before 1st period, starting at 8:15 a.m., and with a pass during regular school hours.


Search the Carver EC Library Catalog with Follett Destiny through My Backpack or here.

Search the Fulton County Public Library through ClassPass (FCPL) through My Backpack. All APS students have free access to all FCPL resources, including their physical and electronic collection.

Race2Read is a district-wide initiative to encourage everyone to read at least 20 minutes every day and to reach the collective district goal of 10 million minutes.

ALL STUDENTS WHO LOGGED ANY NUMBER OF MINUTES IN JANUARY AND/OR FEBRUARY ARE ON THE GUEST LIST FOR AN ICE CREAM SUNDAE PARTY ON FRIDAY, MARCH 24 DURING ADVISEMENT IN THE MEDIA CENTER.


We need every Carver EC scholar to log their reading minutes into the Beanstack app through My Backpack or on the Beanstack phone app. Our school goal is 553,000 minutes.


Please encourage your children to read AND log their minutes!

Carver EC Library Media Center Ambassadors

We currently have a monthly Reading Ambassador and will soon be developing a Junior Librarian/Media Specialist program.

Reading Ambassadors (RAs) are challenged to spread the love of reading throughout the school. RAs each receive 5 free snack tickets.


Participation in the Library Ambassador Program requires nomination from a Carver teacher or staff.

Extracurriculars & Clubs

If your child is looking for a club or extracurricular opportunity, our teachers and staff offer a wide variety of options. A downloadable list of activities can be found on our website and is also attached to this newsletter. If your child would like to propose the addition of a club or activity to our offering, please reach out to Principal Rogers by calling the school.

Reminders

Uniform Policy


Parents, please remind the scholars that we are a uniform school. It is imperative that scholars attend school each day dressed in polo style collared shirts in the following grade-level colors: black-9th grade, white -10th grade, gray-11th grade, maroon-12th grade. Bottoms must be khaki, black, or gray. No rips or tears in pants. Jeans are prohibited.


Dually enrolled scholars are required to always wear lanyards around their necks.


Clear and Mesh Bookbags


Carver Early College has a clear and mesh bookbag policy. We have issued temporary clear bookbags to scholars who have not yet obtained one.


School Start Time


Scholars need to be at school by 8:30 a.m. each day to allow them time to be in their 1st period by 8:45 a.m. School starts promptly at 8:45 a.m. each day. Instruction begins when the bell rings; we ask that scholars are seated in class and prepared with materials.


Parent Conference Tuesdays


The 3rd Tuesday of every month is reserved for parent conferences. Conferences are conducted between 3:55 p.m. – 4:55 p.m. Conferences may be conducted face-to-face or virtually.
