Happenings In Panther Nation - January 2021

As we usher out 2020 and welcome 2021, it brings about the discovery of my #OneWord for this new year. This process is not simply changing out words, but it is something much deeper and impactful. It entails time to reflect on the last twelve months and consider the next twelve months.

My reflection time revealed that due to the rapid pace of 2020, I was constantly shifting from one challenge to another, beginning a new conversation before I was finished with my present one, and juggling one meeting after another. This accelerated pace led to many new developments and improvements, but it pulled me away from a deep-rooted value.

As I began the discovery stage of selecting my #OneWord2021, it became clear that my word needed to bring me back to my values. I knew that I had to focus on slowing down the pace and return to spending quality time with people.

As I continued to work through the exploration process, several words began to surface. Words like: connect, time, present, involved, together, priority, and relationship came to mind but didn’t fully answer the question of What do I need in 2021?

As I considered what I needed in 2021, one word began to appear in my morning devotionals and reading at night. Just as in past years, when I stopped trying to discover the word, my word was revealed to me!

The word that was revealed as my #OneWord2021 is Engage! I know that I must engage in every conversation and not get distracted. I know that I must fully engage in the challenge in front of me and not be thinking about multiple issues as I’m solving one. I know that I must engage with the people in the meeting and not be looking at text messages or emails. With this word as my focus, I will be able to reattach to the value of being engaged with people!

I would love to hear your #OneWord and how you discovered it. Please feel free to share it with me!!
