Coaching 3 P's
Review, Preview, and Problems: Sept. 7-11
Progress (FOE)
- Shared Word Wall lists and pointers. Share 2015-2016 assessment info and dates. Created a flyer thru the S'More website to share information.
- Coaches' Cohort Meeting Thursday
- Literacy Committee Meeting Wednesday (Gathered, sorted, and counted 100 Book Challenge supplies. Set dates for reading celebrations.)
- Checked on Fountas & Pinnell progress. (People are at different stages. Some are almost finished, and others are just beginning.)
- Observed classroom RIT Band groups to check on progress and needs. Redefined lower quartile groups based on Fall MAP (both second and third grade groups changed).
- Met with 4th and 5th grades and discussed needs for running records (4th is going to try Fountas & Pinnell and 5th is going to use Journeys.).
- Completed HPLC with Principal.
- Reviewed John Collins' information with Assistant Principal and discussed MAP RIT Band group updates.
- Touched base with teacher about running records for self-contained class. She and I will meet the week after next for Fountas & Pinnell training.
Plan (OPE)
- Meet with School Psychologist to review Fountas & Pinnell BAS and LLI purposes and how they relate to interventions.
- Meet with grade-levels to review Word Walls, HF Word List, running record progress, and RIT Bands.
- Meet with teacher to help her analyze Spelling Inventories.
- Observe RIT Band Groups and possibly model a lesson. (possibly model in a fishbowl or video lesson)
- Meet with Principal to complete the HPLC Needs Assessment Survery.
- Meet with Assistant Principal to discuss new Fountas & Pinnell kits.
- Train third grade on the Fountas & Pinnell kits.
- Work with the Media Specialist to celebrate International Dot Day (the 15th-ish). Students will read/listen to The Dot and create their own dot to make their "mark" on our school.
- Work on my GBE.
- Follow-up on my recertification requirements.
- Design a PD plan involving RIT bands, John Collins, Continuum of Literacy Learning, and SEIs.
Problems
- Teachers still seem unsure of RIT Band Group purposes and instructional intent.
- I need LLI training (not just observe a lesson)
- Time to actually implement things I see as needs on top of the already too full PD schedules.
