School Safety - StayALERT
School safety is always an important part of the BMS educational setting. Blanco MS and Blanco ISD have partnered with Stay Alert to provide an avenue for students, parents, teachers, and community members to report issues related to school safety. If you are aware of an incident, situation, activity, etc. that needs to be reported to school officials, please utilize one of the Stay Alert program avenues to report it. Those reporting can choose to remain anonymous.

New Face at BMS
Ms. Batey, our BMS Secretary, has announced her retirement effective at the end of this school year. If you come to BMS next week you may encounter a new face greeting you. We are happy to add Ms. Monique Pennington to the BMS family. She will start learning the ins and outs of the position from Ms. Batey through the end of the school year before assuming the role herself for the 2023-24 school year. Ms. Pennington has been in a similar role with Comal ISD for the past 5 years. Please help us welcome Ms. Pennington to BMS. We look forward to working with her.
6th Grade ELA
6th Graders have been reading Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen and creating projects based on events/themes from the book. They chose from a list of activities that included a variety of research topics, art, and digital projects. Some of their work is shown below. Ms. Hawkins is the 6th grade Reading and Language Arts Teacher.
MAP Testing Update
BMS Students have completed 3 of their 4 MAP tests. They will take the Math MAP test on Tuesday of next week to finish up their MAP testing for the year.
