Friday, October 4

Hello, Mustangs!

Oh, my! This has been one of my favorite weeks!!! Yes, we had Book Fair, Family Night at Book Fair, and three days of Goodies for Grands. Love books! Love smiling grandparents and special guests! This is a true family-feel time! Many thanks to all who were able to join us for this busy week!

I do hope that you are able to join us tonight at our Movie Night! This is free and more family time! We will see the movie, WALL E. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets for the ground. Popcorn is free! Movie will start around 7:30 p.m. once it is dark enough to see on the screen.

Also, please note that our Shotokan Karate Night was moved to Saturday, Oct. 5, 6:00-10:00 p.m.

Next week is a big week for us as we have Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, Oct. 10, 3:00-6:30 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 11, 7:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (No school for students on Friday, Oct. 11.) Please know that our teachers can't possibly conference with every single parent during this time so you may receive other possible conference times. I know some teachers have already started and some will continue to conference after Oct. 11. Our goal is to conference with 100% of our parents. Thank you to all for working together in bringing success to our students as "it takes a village"!

I hope you enjoy the cooler weather that is predicted for this weekend along with one of those new books from the Book Fair!

Yours truly,

Jan Fickling

Principal of Midway Elementary

INFORMATION - LEXINGTON COMMUNITY BAND

PARENTS! The Lexington Community Band is looking for you!!

The Lexington Community Band is a non-profit organization sponsored by the Town of Lexington and Lexington School District One! This group enhances our town and school community by providing adults and students in the Lexington area with an outlet to share and expand their musical skills. We provide entertainment and cultural programs in Lexington and surrounding communities through regular public performances.

The Lexington Community Band started in October 2014 with 35 members at the first

rehearsal. This is now our sixth year, and the band has over 70 regular members. We rehearse weekly during the fall and spring in the beautiful band room at River Bluff High School, thanks to the generous spirit of Dr. Luke Clamp, principal of River Bluff High School, and band directors, Mr. Aaron Railey, Mr. Josh Hinkel and Mr. Kevin Hebert. We perform our concerts at the River Bluff High School Performing Arts Center, the Lexington One Performing Arts Center at Lexington High School, and the lceHouse Amphitheater.

We are reaching out to parents or school alumni who may have played an instrument in high school or college and might be interested in trying to play it again! You may have been a good player, involved in your school concert band or marching band program, or Region Band too!

Do you think that you would be up for the fun challenge of performing again? Are you interested in meeting new people in our community and having some fun? Do you own an instrument or have access to one?

We rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 - 9:30 in the band room at River Bluff High School. Our first rehearsal is on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. We would love to have you join us!

For more information, please visit our website at www. LexingtonCommuni tyBand.org or contact us at lexcommband@icloud.com.

Please come and join us this fall!! We hope to see you there!
