In Class This Week

We have a busy upcoming week in Math! Students will work on subtracting with regrouping and subtracting across zeros. In third grade, students should be proficient with subtraction with regrouping. We will revisit subtraction and work with subtraction in multi-step word problems. If your child struggles with subtraction, it would be a great idea to have them work on subtraction problems at home.

In Reading, we will focus on inferences. Good readers use background knowledge/schema plus text evidence to make inferences about what they are reading. Being able to infer is a key skill that a reader needs to be successful. We will spend the week working through many fun activities to help the students become more proficient with their inference skills.

In Writing, students will be working on writing a personal narrative. They will also work on identifying subject and predicate.

In Social Studies, we will continue to focus on our government and celebrating freedom. Students will work with their ELM groups to create a classroom constitution.
