Plunge Into Fitness Challenge

Stay healthy and fit this winter by being active and keep moving! Each student should have received information on the Plunge Into Fitness Challenge, where students are challenged to participate in 30 minutes of exercise daily for the next 50 days! Any activity that increases heart rate will count, such as walking, biking, running, jumping rope or playing a sport. Keep track of your exercise on your fitness log, and be sure to turn in your log by April 8th. All students who turn in their log will receive their choice of a free ticket or discount to Raging Waves Water Park!

Keeping Kids Safe Online: The "Momo Challenge"

Parents, you may have heard recently, in the news or on social media, about something called the "Momo Challenge" that is going around online. To learn more about this unsafe challenge, and how to keep your child safe online, click here. This unsafe "Momo Challenge" asks students to watch an online video, then harm themselves. Whether this "challenge" is hoax or not, I share this with you because it is a good reminder that it is never too early to start monitoring your child's online and/or social media usage, even if it's just listening to music or using "You Tube". Be sure your family has rules and limits to how your child uses technology SAFELY. Just as we teach our children about "stranger danger", how to eat healthy, and to look both ways before crossing a street, we need to teach children about online safety.

A few weeks ago, I shared several resources on "digital citizenship", and I just wanted to share these one more time.

A few helpful resources for parents:

If you need additional resources, please reach out to us at Hawthorne School. Thank you for partnering with us to help keep our students safe!

Sincerely,

Danielle Moran, Principal
