PBIS

Positive Behavior Intervention Support

Did you know that this year THE LINC became a PBIS school? PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. PBIS is a framework that enhances academic and social behavior outcomes for ALL students.

You may have noticed your children talking a lot about being WISE at school. WISE stands for:

  • Winning attitude
  • Interact with respect
  • Show kindness
  • Excel

Staff at THE LINC are constantly teaching and reinforcing behaviors when we see students being WISE. When caught doing one of these things, students are given a LINC LOOT which they save to use for purchasing rewards. Each classroom teacher has a menu of ways in which students can spend their LOOT. Additionally, each House has an event for the marking period and the school has a way all students who are in good standing can spend their LINC LOOT. To be in good standing students must not have any major referrals and must have less than three incident slips. The school-wide event will cost 30 LINC LOOT and will take place on 11/7. Students have known about this EXCITING opportunity since the first week of school.

Additionally, the staff at THE LINC are analyzing behavior data and using it to react and respond to students' needs.

Stay tuned for more PBIS information or check out the PBIS Website.

What is a House?

This year at THE LINC, we are striving to show our community pride and build relationships within different grade levels. Each student at THE LINC was placed into a House this school year, and our school community has developed House points through promotions like our canned food drive, lunchroom activities, a clothing drive, showing house spirit by wearing house colors, and many other events that will be announced throughout the school year. Prizes and fun activities are planned for the House who scores the most points. As always, each event will continue to develop a sense of community and school pride with our students.

Parent Conferences

Washington County Public Schools has eliminated the two conference days from our calendar. After a survey of parents, they said the short 10-15 min conference was not beneficial. This year, THE LINC will be trying a few new things to enhance parent-teacher communication:

  1. Parents can request a parent conference any time of the year, coordinating through the teacher
  2. Teachers will be requesting conferences as needed throughout the year
  3. Please make sure you are signed up for ParentVue, and you can view daily progress of your child
  4. THE LINC teachers will be sending home progress reports in the middle of the marking period for those students who are making limited or no progress toward the standards
  5. A parent can request a progress report anytime from the teacher

If you have any other suggestions to improve communication, please let us know
