RHS Students and Families -
Students will begin following the Distance Learning schedule on Thursday, November 12. Please note that teachers will start to post their Weekly Plans in Schoology tomorrow (Wednesday, November 11) morning.
The below schedule provides some additional context and guidelines around Distance Learning and work expectations. This schedule has been shared with students via Schoology and will also be further defined in Advisory class on Friday.
Be kind. Stay calm. Go Irish!! ☘️

Example Student Schedule for Distance Learning
The schedule below is an example of how one 9th grade student schedule may look during Distance Learning, as well as suggested time to work independently to complete school work within a regular school day and week.
Classes are scheduled for 45 minutes twice per week. An additional 30 minutes on the days that students are not in their class during the school week may be considered and needed for independent learning/work time.
Assignments and work are assigned and due during the normal school week (M-F)
In Distance Learning the total learning time for each course should be approximately 3 hours during the school week (M-F). This includes both in-person classes and independent learning/work time.
There may be exceptions to these guidelines based on AP/CIS standards, concurrent enrollment requirements, and courses offering outside certifications.
Teacher Office Hours are 8:00am-9:00am Monday through Friday and 1:30pm-3:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. Students should contact teachers to arrange to meet with their teacher(s) during these times. Emails and voice messages sent outside these times will not be immediately returned.
Advisory class is on Tuesdays. Students are expected to attend, check in with their advisors, receive critical information, and complete any forms or work that is required for their grade level.
Flex Time takes place on Fridays starting on November 19. Students can choose to attend help sessions hosted by teachers or do independent study focusing on completing assignments.
Color Coding Explained:
Blue and Gold blocks are periods where students are expected to attend Zoom class every time and day listed.
Pink blocks are where students should be independently completing work for all classes and getting help from teachers, as needed.
Green blocks are targeted intervention for students in need of additional support at RHS or via Zoom.
Gray blocks are time available to students to use to connect with teachers during office hours, if needed.

Students are expected to enable their video. WHY? This is our classroom, we need to see each other throughout the learning process, teachers need to see students' faces for feedback, we are building a community of trust.
Students should Zoom from a location that is quiet and allows for focus on learning.
Academic success can be attained through consistent attendance in Zoom classes and completion of assignments on time.
Students should have materials ready so they can focus; be prepared and on time.
When in class students are expected to stay present and be an active participant in every class.
Students should mute themselves when not speaking to eliminate potential for background noise.
Students should follow individual teacher instruction for each Zoom session.
