Pneumonia
Pneumonia is the common name for the bacteria streptococcus pneumoniae, which are sphere shaped cells.
Where to get it
People can pick up this bacteria pretty much anywhere such as school, daycares, or spas/hot tubs. The people most at risk are older than 65 or younger than 2.
About
Infected lung's air sacs fill up with fluid and pus, which causes coughing, fever, chills, and breathing problems. This is very dangerou because it can kill you. You can die from it if the lungs are infected, then they can't get enough oxygen so the brain won't have enough oxygen to stay alive. There are about 1.1 million cases of pneumonia per year in the United states.
Prevention
This disease can be prevented by the pneumococcal or the flu vaccine. You can also prevent getting it by having good hygene and always washing your hands.
