Ed Young, a Children's Book Author and Illustrator
Ed Young is very inspired by the philosophy of Chinese paintings. He is Caldecott Medalist, is an illustrator for over 80 children’s books, seventeen of which he has written himself. He was born in Tientsin, China, Was born two months after the Manchurian war. Grew up in Shanghai, and his mother would say “EDDY, I wonder what is to become of you.” When he grew up, he moved to Hong Kong. He came to the U.S. to work on art when he was a young man. He didn’t want to continue this so he went to writing children’s books. Working on art inspired him, and he then became famous for making children's books. He was ery successful in making children’s books, and he was taught at the Pratt Institute, Yale University, Naropa Institute, and the University of California at Santa Cruz and was a graduate at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
