The Carleton Chronicle
A weekly update from Carleton Middle School.
Upcoming Opportunities
Did you know Carleton now has a Ski and Snowboard Club? Have your child visit the main office for more information, as they travel most every Friday to hit the slopes after the school week is complete.
We will also have opportunities for students to work at girl's basketball games. If they are interested in working our concession stand, please see Ms. Lenz in the counseling office to express your interest and availability.
On February 5th, consider getting lunch or dinner from Jet's Pizza at 13450 15 Mile Road, as a portion of their proceeds will come back to Carleton to benefit our students. This is an easy fundraiser, so order in and enjoy Jet's on February 5th!
Extra Credit Union will be here on February 5th as well. Consider making a deposit or having your report card available to receive the "pay for good grades" incentive.
Lastly, we will have an Extravaganza on February 7th from 3-4:30 PM. Tickets will be on sale next week during lunches. Any parents interested in working concessions for the Extravaganza, please reach out to the boosters.
Morning Announcements in Action
WIDA
The WIDA (World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment) is given to students at Carleton (and other K-12 students in 37 states) that are English-language learners. There are four components to the assessment including Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. It is imperative that students try their best on this test as it helps us determine proper class placement and any needed interventions. The WIDA will begin at Carleton on Monday, February 4th and has broken students up into various smaller groups.
For the last two years, Carleton Middle School has had the highest number of students that have passed the WIDA out of the other middle schools. We'd like to keep that streak alive so encourage your youngster to try their best and pass this test. If they do, they'll never have to take it again!
