NEWS & NOTES

3M GRANT: We received word this week that we have been awarded a $5000 grant from 3M! This grant will allow us to provide more Maker Space/design challenge professional development to staff and purchase additional materials for design challenges. We should receive the funds in October. We are so grateful for the ongoing support we receive from 3M!

NO SSIS UNIVERSAL SCREENER: The SSIS screener will not be administered at this time. There will be an MoY and EoY SSIS screener completed for each student. Last year's end of year SSIS scores are available in eCST for returning students. If you have new students and would like to use the SSIS screener, please let me know and I will get the tool for you.

REFLEX SETUP: Students in grades 1-5 have been uploaded to Reflex Math. Teachers in grades 2-5 should set up classes so that your students can begin to use Reflex. Reflex is available for use by any 1st grade students, but may not be appropriate for all students in first grade. New students to Davis will need to be added manually by the classroom teacher. Please let me know if you have any questions or need assistance.

OCTOBER 14 VOLUNTEERS: We have a group of about 8 Apple employees who will be on campus for 2 hours the morning of 10/14. They are available to help with whatever is needed, and are especially interested in working with students. Please let me know if you would like to have them help in your classroom.

TECH TIPS- PREPARE TO SHARE: At our faculty meeting on Tuesday, a few minutes will be set aside for teachers to share 'Tech Tips'. Please think about sharing something that you are doing with technology that you think would be helpful to others. It could be a shortcut you use within a program or a new program you and/or your students are using that is working well. We look forward to hearing your tips!

ADULT CHAIRS ON PLAYGROUND: It has come to our attention that some teachers are bringing chairs out to the playground to sit in during recess and leaving them outside. It is fine to bring chairs, but please make sure you bring your chair back inside when your recess is over. Empty chairs on the playground have created safety issues for some of our younger students. Thank you for your help with this.

REMINDER- iSTATION SUPPORT ON WEDNESDAY: Bo Shepard, our Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) coach, will meet with teachers during planning time this Wednesday. Teachers should bring laptops. Support will include:

  • How to access and interpret classroom ISIP data
  • How to access and choose lessons in iStation
  • How to Progress Monitor
  • Parent Portal
  • eCST Goal Writing using ISIP data

AISD FACILITIES SURVEY: We need your insights and expertise to shape the planning process to modernize our schools. The Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee is developing a strategy for the district’s facilities master plan—and for the development of a potential bond program. Your feedback will help us determine which modernization concepts are most important.
