A Blast from the Past

Have you ever wanted to travel back in time? Well, here’s your chance! This summer class will allow you and your friends to travel back in time and experience A Blast from the Past!! Throughout June, we will dive into a new decade each week as we explore the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Join Mrs. York to learn all the interesting facts and experience some of the best (and maybe even some of the worst) each decade had to offer. Our days will be full of activities centered around the music, TV shows & movies, fashion, sports, cars, technology, food, language, people, and events of the good ‘ole days. Guest speakers and field trips are planned. Hurry and sign up soon…we blast off June 3rd!


Amigos y Las Américas

In this course, students will investigate the Hispanic culture, geography of the Americas, and the Spanish language. Students will be offered choice boards and create Hispanic crafts, vocabulary lists, and participate in two fiestas! We will investigate topics like Spanish Speaking Countries, Hispanic Holidays, Hispanic Cuisine, and Famous Hispanics. Student participation is essential to grow in the language and understanding of the Hispanic culture.

Join us each day in June and we’ll hang til 2:30!
Students will participate in fun activities which will ultimately engage them in real-life skill building such as problem solving, design, measurement, creative development, exploration and cooperative team work. Some projects could include geocaching, string & nail art, salt jar decorations, jolly rancher roses, and STEM activities such as paper rockets, egg drop cars & rubber band cannons.


Build It with Mr. Rogers

In this class, we will learn the basics of 3-D design and 3-D printing. We will make wood shop projects using traditional shop tools and machinery. This class is very hands on and everyone will have something to take home. “Let’s go make something cool!”


Everything Water & Beyond

In this class we will learn about all kinds of things involving water. We will have a shark week where we learn all about sharks, make shark teeth, and make other shark activities. We will explore lots of other types of underwater creatures as well. We also will make a boat and learn about why it floats. We will make ocean water to drink while we watch movies about underwater creatures. We will go to the park, trail, and have scavenger hunts to learn about the weather, and the water cycle. We will also be planting some vegetables and learning about gardening and how water helps the plants to grow and how bees help pollinate our crops. This will be a hands- on class; full of making slime, play-doh, & tie dye shirts. We will be looking at pond creatures under the microscope, and the sky with a telescope. For our trips we will be going swimming at the public pool to learn how they keep bacteria out of the pool;, and talking with someone from The Missouri Department of Conservation, to learn about water species and other types of animals that we have in Missouri.


EXPLORER CAMP-June 3-16

EXPLORER CAMP will take place at Bennett Spring State Park and will engage students in a wide range of outdoor activities and demonstrations! Each morning will begin with fishing in a variety of locations throughout the park. Afternoons will include activities such as: hiking, trail clean-up and recycling service projects, reading, field journaling, camping survival, geocaching, first aid training, animal awareness, and more! Every activity will be thoroughly supervised by teachers, park staff, and volunteers. This class is open to ALL levels of adventurers, whether you have hiked mountains or never gone fishing! Contact Laura Latall at LLatall@lebanon.k12.mo.us with any questions. NOTE: Families must provide transportation to and from Bennett Spring State Park for this class; it does not meet on a district campus. Breakfast and lunch will still be provided.


Let's do Science Labs and Photography!

This course will include engineering challenges (let's make stuff), and cool science labs (let's make stuff happen) like elephant toothpaste, roller coasters, sand pendulums, robot arms, rockets, Martian Landers, and Rube Goldberg Machines! Walking field trips to parks and McDonalds will be available when weather permits. We will be sharpening photography skills as we photograph our labs and observe science in action.


LMS Junior Chefs

Students will explore/practice kitchen and food safety. Demonstrations, hands-on cooking labs, and cooperative learning will guide students in the understanding of how to follow a recipe. Students will record their own cooking shows.


Lotions, Potions & MORE!!!!

Interested in learning how to make your own soap or other bath and body products? What about candles? Are you interested in creating colorful resin art or acrylic paintings? Here’s your chance! You can learn a craft and create your own beautiful handmade gifts at the same time! In this DIY class, we will utilize advanced soap and candle making techniques to formulate and create various types of home fragrances as well as bath and body items (including soaps, scrubs, lotions and bath bombs). We will experiment with new and innovative package designs, logo designs, photography and marketing ideas! We will utilize experts within the different fields through skype visits and traditional/virtual field trips, guest speakers and we will even partner with a local artist for a fun-filled personalized painting experience. Each student will create a minimum of 6 different products along with a workbook/recipe book to take home. So put on your creative hat and let’s get crafting!!!!


Minecraft Creations

You want to Minecraft and your parents want you to learn. What if you could create a WIN-WIN! Join us for Summer Experience: Minecraft Style, you will be transported to a virtual world to use your creativity and ingenuity to complete educational challenges in the world of Minecraft using your Chromebook. You will have 4-weeks’ worth of self-directed challenges, to learn at your own pace and engage in English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Coding skills. Added BONUSES are: you will automatically qualify for membership in the LMS Virtual Minecraft Club. New incoming students to LMS will learn to use CANVAS online tools before the 2021-2022 school year!

You want to play video games. Your parents want you to learn. What if you could create a WIN-WIN! Join us for Summer Experience: Minecraft Style, you will be transported to a virtual world to use your creativity and ingenuity to complete educational challenges in the world of Minecraft using your Chromebook. You will have 4-weeks’ worth of self-directed challenges, to learn at your own pace and engage in English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Coding skills. Added BONUSES are: you will automatically qualify for membership in the LMS Virtual Minecraft Club. New incoming students to LMS will learn to use CANVAS online tools before the 2021-2022 school year!


MO Fun in the Sun

This outdoor/indoor recreation experience will allow students to actively explore the Missouri outdoors by utilizing local trails, parks and the middle school gyms. The different activities will include games, sports, fitness challenges, biking, hiking, archery, fishing and more fun adventures. Come each day ready to be active and walk away with an appreciation for lifelong fitness and recreation.


Movies vs. Books

Compare movie versions with original books. How are the elements of the book and movie alike or different? Come join us for a fun time of reading the book together and watching the movie to find those elements. We will be looking at Divergent, Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and more.


Murder, Mystery, and Mayhem

Take on the roles of crime scene investigators to solve a crime that has been committed in April Henry’s book Blood Will Tell. We will combine English and forensic science to see how investigators would have solved the crime in the book using techniques such as fingerprinting, DNA analysis, blood spatter, and more. We will learn from experts in the field by taking field trips and having guest speakers from various law enforcement agencies. At the end of the class, we will solve a “crime” committed at LMS. Hope to see crime and mystery buffs this June!


Perfect Mythical Summer

Good Mythical Morning and Dude Perfect MaShUp!

Do you enjoy watching Dude Perfect and Good Mythical Morning? Do you like putting your taste buds to the test? Do you aspire to be just like Rhett and Link and have your own YouTube channel? Do you think Dude Perfect makes things look difficult, but it’s ACTUALLY quite easy? Join Rhett and Link--err, Mr. Prock and Mr. Woolsey--in experimenting with food, trick-shots, and extreme will-it challenges. Field trips include trips to McDonald’s and local parks.


Senglish (get it. science. english)

Have you ever wondered why English and Science couldn’t just be the same class? Well, now is your chance. You’ll spend the first two weeks with Mr. Miller, and the second two with Ms. Rivard! The top experiments will get a chance to be published in our community newspaper, and even a possible interview with the local radio station! You will get to participate and create some INCREDIBLE experiments with Mr. Miller and then Ms. Rivard will help you create presentations about what you did, EAT, talk and write! Come and join us for chats n cheese its, gossip n guac, dialogue n donuts, discussions n desserts, conversations n candy, talks n treats, conferences n cookies, parley n pastries.


Summer with Sphero Robots

Are you interested in programming and robots? Join our class for Summer with Sphero robots! Using a Sphero robot, students will learn coding concepts and problem solving skills to program Sphero in a variety of tasks. Students will program Sphero to race in a chariot race, maneuver through a maze, bowling and more!


Wild Kingdoms of Science & More

Have fun this summer discovering the Wild Kingdoms of Life! Of course we will explore Plants and Animals, but we will also find out how viruses spread and can’t be “killed” and experience the crazy world of Bacteria, Protists and Fungi through lots of hands-on and outside activities. We will investigate frogs, flowers, owl pellets, insects and seeds; look for and identify various specimens; grow cultures for investigations and hatching chickens. We will hear from guest speakers and visit the Coleman/Thomson Conservation Area.
