Student Reading Levels
- What is the purpose of sharing reading levels with parents?
- How do you communicate with families about about where their child is as a reader and where they are headed?
- Does a reading level help parents understand where their child is in reading? Does it help the student understand?
Here is an excerpt from the book Catching Readers Before They Fall: Supporting Struggling Readers K-4 that offers many ways to share a student's reading progress instead of using a level.

World Kindness Day November 13, 2018
Last Stop on Market Street
A young boy and his grandmother take the bus after church each week. At the stops along the way, they meet people of different cultures and talk about noticing the world around and being thankful.
Each Kindness
In this book, a new girl to school named Maya is introduced to the class, but she is not welcomed or talked to. At the end of the book, the teacher invites the class to throw a pebble in the water and watch the ripples to symbolize an act of kindness they have shared with the class.
