WILDBAND MARCHES INTO SECOND PLACE!
Congratulations to the ORHS WildBand for placing Second in the 4A division at the Rhea County Invitational Marching Contest on Saturday. Their show, Fuego Del Corazon, was a crowd pleaser as well! The delta between Cleveland in First and Oak Ridge was small! Both groups had the highest scores of the day. Definitely a performance to be proud of! The WildBand is bringing the show home this Friday at the Rhea County Playoff Game!

JUNIOR CLINIC PARTICIPANTS
Shoutout to freshmen Bree Wood, Juno Morrill, Madelyn Pendley, and Ren Hill-Murakami for making Junior Clinic!
CROSS COUNTRY GOES TO STATE!
The boy's and girl's cross country teams competed in the TSSAA State Cross Country Championships on Friday afternoon in Hendersonville. There were 24 complete teams and 200+ total finishers in each race. In the girls' race, freshman Dylan Job ran a fantastic race to finish in 6th place overall with a time of 19:03 to earn All-State honors. Also competing for the girls were Thora Spence 104th - 22:17, Emily Edwards 114th - 22:38, Odelia Kneiser 122nd - 22:46, Kate Laffoon 144th - 23:34, Karen Molina 147th - 23:39, and Lily Moran 181st - 25:35. The team finished in 15th place with a total score of 389 points. In the boys' race, Oak Ridge placed 9th overall with a score of 295 points. Competing for Oak Ridge were Eddie Moore in 32nd place - 16:56, Jack Biewer in 45th - 17:08, Rhett Hovater in 75th - 17:38, Manny Cruz in 78th - 17:41, Joe Blair in 142nd - 18:42, Mason Greenhalgh in 149th - 18:48, and Evan Biewer in 183rd - 20:09.
According to head coach Ed Wright, this was the best possible scenario in each race. "We thought going in that we had the potential to have an All-State runner in the girls' race and finish top 15 as a team. We thought that we could finish top 10 as a team in the boys' race. The kids ran their hearts out. We are super happy with how this turned out and we are excited for the future." Seniors Thora Spence, Eddie Moore, Jack Biewer, and Joe Blair ran in their last cross country race for Oak Ridge High School. "We will miss those seniors. They helped us build the program back up to being relevant again in the area and the state."

NEXT STEP FOR THE TN PROMISE
As a reminder, this one-hour meeting will be mandatory for students to attend to maintain their TN Promise scholarship eligibility. It is extremely important that students make it a priority to attend the in-person mandatory meeting as the meeting will provide an overview of TN Promise/tnAchieves requirements and allow students to meet with their volunteer mentor.
Although this is a mandatory requirement, we do have an excuse form available to students that have a conflict with the assigned meeting date and/or time. It is important that students are reviewing our excuse form policy, which can be found here, prior to submitting an excuse form. Once a student has submitted an excuse form, they will receive follow-up communication from tnAchieves within 48 hours to the email address listed on their TN Promise application. If the excuse form is approved, they will be given access to a mandatory webinar via email on February 1, 2023 that must be completed by March 1, 2023 in order to remain eligible for TN Promise. Please encourage students to make arrangements to attend the meeting, if possible. Otherwise, you can find a link to the excuse form here!
We hope to work together to make the mandatory meeting as seamless as possible for you, your staff, and our students. We kindly ask for your assistance when it comes to the items listed below!
