Reminders and Happenings
We are off to a great start! This week the students have been reviewing Raider PRIDE expectations and how we show Raider PRIDE at Westwood. As a school, we will continue to review our Raider PRIDE expectations throughout the year.
Drop Off and Pick Up
Here are a few reminders that will help these transitions go smoothly.
- Please make sure you get your hugs and good byes out of the way before approaching the sidewalk.
- When dropping off, please make sure your child is ready to exit the vehicle once you're at the appropriate spot. Once your vehicle is next to the sidewalk your child must exit the vehicle and walk to the doors. We understand that students do not like to get out when your vehicle is further away from the door. However, this must happen to ensure that our drop off is as efficient and effective as possible.
- After picking up and dropping off, please pull out into the driving lane so other cars can move forward.
- For pick up, please reiterate with your child the importance of looking for your car as you are pulling up.
Message From Nurse Jess
Dear parent/guardian,
My goal is to keep your child safe and healthy at school. In order to do this successfully, certain paperwork needs to be completed and brought in.
If your child requires medication to be administered at school, the appropriate permission form needs to be filled out completely and returned to me. No medication will be administered to your child prior to receiving the permission form. These forms can be picked up from the office, e-mailed, or sent home with your child.
If the medication is an over the counter medication (Tylenol, Ibuprofen, antibiotic ointment, Benadryl, etc.), bring it to the office in the original container. Be sure to specify how/when/why the medication is to be administered, along with the appropriate dose for your child. Stock medication will not be utilized.
If the medication is a prescription medication, please bring the medication in with an unaltered prescription label.
If your child has been diagnosed with a medical condition that requires an emergency medication (asthma, seizures, allergy) at school, please obtain the appropriate emergency action plan from your physician and bring it to the school nurse.
If you have any questions or concerns please email me at jschroeder@portlandk12.org or call the office during school hours.
Birthday Treats
When sending in a birthday treat, please only send in store-bought treats. Treats made at home are not allowed.
