Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 10th February 2017
sign to sing
This week has been deaf awareness week and the children have been learning what it is like to live without sound. Through a range of subjects we hope children learned to empathise a little more and we were delighted to be able to raise money for the Sign2sing charity. On Tuesday the children performed a small concert to parents. For those parents who couldn't attend we have added a snippet of the concert on video below Thank you to those parents who attended and donated to the charity. We are also really grateful to Anita and Jackie from Henshaws who helped the children to understand how deafness is overcome in everyday life.

Parent consultations
Thank you to all of the parents who have attended consultations this week. We hope you have found the meetings useful and staff helpful. We would welcome your views on the consultations, please could you take time to complete the brief questions below.
parent information opportunities
Thursday 2nd March - to coincide with World Book Day, Mrs McCormick will be running an English workshop which will feature a chance to go into classes. You are invited in for coffee and biscuits just after drop off, with a short presentation about paired reading while children are having registration. After that you will be able to read with your child until 9.45am. Remember, children are invited to come dressed up as a character from a book.
Thursday 9th March - Miss Hardy will run a Mathematics workshop - details to follow.

parking information
Our staff car park is not always completely full, so we know it's tempting to nip in when you're dropping off or picking up your children. However, this is very dangerous as those are the times when children are likely to be crossing the car park. There are not enough spaces for all parents, so please be aware that we cannot open up this car park to everyone.
It would also help us to keep all the children safe, if everyone walking into the school yard uses the gate and path beside the main entrance so they do not have to cross the car park with children.
Thank you for helping us to keep our children safe.
