Rock Hill Review

RHHS Teacher of the Year and Para Professional of the Year
Mrs. MacDonagh is the administrative assistant for Mr. Mouton and does an absolutely incredible job. She builds positive relationships with students that come in for help as well as assist with anything and everything Mr. Mouton and his department need help with. Mrs. MacDonagh has also done a great job handling and filling all our substitute vacancies throughout the year. She literally has to put a jigsaw puzzle together each day to make sure all our classes are covered.
Congrats again to both of them on a well deserved honor!
Principal's Message - Happy Spring BREAK - Finish Strong!
It was another GREAT week on THE HILL!! We have so many activities going on and it's great to see our kids performing and competing at such a high level straight of the gate in our first year. This time of the year is always exciting because we are not only closing out one year but getting ready for an even better 2nd year!
It's hard to believe that we are already heading into SPRING BREAK! I've said this before but with the state the country was in with regard to COVID I honestly did not think we would be able to keep our doors open for very long. Well, after almost 7 months we are still moving right along and have NEVER closed our doors once!! It is truly an incredible testament to the resilience of our students, staff, parents and community that we did not let ANYTHING stop us nor will we start.
I can't thank everyone enough for ALL the support we have had along the way. I hope everyone has a restful, fun and SAFE Spring Break. Let's close out this school year the way we started and GO ROCK!

Winter Guard
As we are all preparing for your Spring Break, I wanted to take a second to tell you about our High School Winter Guard. This year they are competing virtually State-wide and Internationally with our show Vintage.
This past weekend the high school team submitted a video for the first regional weekend for WGI (Winter Guard International) where they earned a divisional rating of "Excellent", only 4 points away from earning a spot in World Championship Semifinals! We are working up to our final Prelims Submission on the 27th of March.
We have some more opportunities that I wanted to make you all aware of so that you can come and check them out! On March 20th, and 27th, we will be performing our show here in the RHHS Arena at 3:30 p.m. In between those performances, we will be performing over at PHS with our Middle School team of 6th-8th graders from Rogers and Hays (who are ROCK STARS btw), as well as the Middle school and High school teams for Prosper. That will begin at 6:30 p.m.
We hope you can make it out! Go Blue Hawks!!
PISD Dual Credit Program
Dual credit course options are available for 11th and 12th grade students only. Please download this presentation to accompany this video in order to learn about the program and the basic process you will need to follow to take dual credit classes next year.
Next, our partners from Collin College have provided a presentation and a video that will help you navigate through the application process (you have to apply and become a Collin student before you do anything else--Hint: Do NOT use your Prosper ISD email on your application since it will go away after you graduate from high school), and then help you start to remove your registration holds. Don’t worry about submitting test scores or a transcript. Your high school counselors will take care of this step for you after the permission form deadline has closed. You can find an enrollment and registration checklist with lots of other information here. This checklist is an incredibly important document.
Speaking of the permission form...this is your first, critical deadline. You must submit a paper copy of the completed permission form (including your CWID, and the top of BOTH sides filled out) by the deadline below. You can find a fillable form here. If you have difficulties with the fillable version, you can download and print a basic version. If you are a completely virtual student who never comes to campus this year, you may email a completed/scanned copy of the permission form to your counselor (Rock Hill Counselors).
When filling out your permission form, be sure it is as complete as possible. You must fill out all of the information on the top on both sides. You must have signatures for both you and your parents. Finally, even though the top of the back side says it will be completed by a high school official, since we can’t read your mind, we really need you to fill in the courses that you want to take under “course name/number” (e.g., ENGL 1301). Do not fill in a CRN (you don’t have these yet) and don’t check any boxes. Don’t fill in anything else on the back. Students and parents: READ THIS FORM COMPLETELY. Know what you are getting into.
Here are your key dates for Dual Credit this year:
March 4th: Dual Credit Permission forms due to Counselor’s office-This is a hard deadline. If you miss it, you are not going to take dual credit next year.
March 23rd: TSI testing at your high school campus, during the school day
April 20th: Online registration opens for Collin College through CougarWeb
May 14th: Last day to register for dual credit classes for PISD students
May 21st: Last day of school for PISD
July 21st: Last day to pay for classes at Collin College. Failure to complete payment or set up a payment plan will result in you being dropped from registered classes and not reinstated.

March Career Spotlight – Health Science :: Week 2 Nurse Anesthetists
This week, we are profiling a specialized area of nursing: Nurse Anesthetists. These advanced practice nurses are at the heart of both direct patient care and surgical procedures.

A nurse anesthetist (or a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA)), is someone who has completed graduate-level education and has been board certified in anesthesia. They are capable of administering anesthesia under the oversight of an anesthesiologist,
surgeon, dentist, podiatrist or other qualified healthcare professional. These advanced practice registered nurses are given a high degree of independence and respect.

Hawks Helping Hawks
It has been the goal of the counseling office to have a food pantry for students in need to have a place to come where they can get food for the evening, weekend, etc. Thanks to the donations coming in from the athletic department, we are ready to start advertising this to our kids.
Students can request assistance by completing the QR code form or by coming to see the counselor directly. Also, we know that teachers see a lot more than we do, so if you see a need please let us know and we can talk to the student.
We also have a few winter coats and school supplies that we can assist with in addition to the nonperishable food items students can take home.
The intent behind the pantry is that we help for a need when they are not in school. If a student is needing lunch or breakfast assistance, we can still get them help with that, but it would not come from the food pantry.

What is PISD Graduation Celebration?
Over 14 years ago, a group of Prosper High School parent volunteers created a non-profit, PHS – Project Graduation. The goal was to follow the national charter, which promotes drug and alcohol alternatives for students on the night of their high school graduation. The event was typically at a venue in Frisco, started at 11pm on the night of graduation, and concluded at 5am the following morning. Tickets were sold for the event to cover both the cost of the venue and to purchase prizes for the seniors. Ticket prices have varied over the years from $50 to $150, depending on the class size and the price of the venue.
With the addition of a second high school and the growth of Prosper ISD, the name and vision of Project Graduation had to evolve. Moving forward, Project Graduation will be called Prosper ISD Graduation Celebration. The focus will be to educate students on the dangers of drug and alcohol use while creating an event for all PISD seniors.
Graduation Celebration will be held on May 19 at the Children’s Health Stadium, 6 – 10pm. The event will be FREE to all PISD seniors. In order for this to be a memorable celebration for the 1,011 seniors in PISD, we need to raise $100,000. We will also be accepting in kind donations as we get closer to the event. There are many opportunities to volunteer, as a senior parent, business owner, or community member.
Information regarding the Celebration will be updated for both PHS and RHHS via the 2021 Senior pages on the ISD website, the Parent Facebook pages, Principal Newsletters and the PISD Express. Feel free to reach out to any board member of the Prosper ISD Graduation Celebration. Together we can make a special memory for the PISD seniors!
Parent and Guardians,
We are so excited to be a part of the opening of Rock Hill High School and laying the foundation for the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). July started with a great boost with an amazing membership drive. As parents and guardians, we believe that we all have similar goals. We want our children and the students attending Rock Hill to laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained and to feel the support of those around them. PTO is here with the students and teachers in mind. Every decision PTO makes is with the focus of each and every student and teacher. We encourage you to join the PTO and stay connected with all upcoming PTO sponsored events.
Should you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to use via email at rockhillhighpto@gmail.com.
