Power School Information
If you do not have PowerSchool access, Irma will be sending home log on information with your child(ren) soon! Please take a few moments to sign onto PowerSchool when you receive the paperwork. If you have forgotten your log on information, please contact Irma at Irma.Imperial@dvusd.org or come by the office.
WHY should parents log into PowerSchools? Deer Valley Unified School District provides parents with a means of staying up-to-date with their child’s progress. PowerSchool is a secure website used by classroom teachers to input and maintain student grades electronically. All parents and students have the opportunity to use PowerSchool to access
- attendance,
- activities,
- assignments,
- and grades (both current and historical) throughout the school year.

Hello Families,
In school, our motto for the week is:
I don’t complain about what I can’t change.
The weather fits into that category. We can't do anything about it, but we hear people complain about it constantly! This is fine; it can give us something to converse about and bond over, but when the negativity and complaining begin to interfere with the quality of our experience, we have gone too far.
Complaining without action isn’t helpful. When our children complain that summer isn’t here yet (something they cannot change), all they are doing is creating misery for themselves and losing the opportunities they do have right now.
“Do what you can,
with what you have, where you are.”
-Theodore Roosevelt
Nothing in life is perfect, and there will always be something we can complain about if we choose. However, learning how to make the most of each moment (for whatever it offers us - little or much) is a far more beneficial plan of action for our children.
The next time you hear your children complain, listen with empathy and understanding and then redirect their attention to improving the situation rather than complaining about it.
A simple example:
"I understand. I don't like doing the dishes either, but they need to get done. Complaining about how much we dislike doing the dishes doesn't make the chore go away. In fact, it only makes the experience feel worse. Let's talk about what we want to do next, rather than complain about what we are doing now.
Be well,
Danna Evans
