Elizabeth Blackwell

“If society will not admit of woman's free development, then society must be remodeled.”

It was unheard of for women to pursue higher education,so when one woman pushed the boundaries was it seen as a joke. Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman to pursue the profession of medical. Many women were encouraged by this courageous action, which broke us into the new era of the medical profession. Blackwell also opened the New York Dispencery for Poor Women and Children and wrote many publications on health, sanitation, and the medical profession for women. She paved the path for many women to come.

“None of us can know what we are capable of until we are tested.”
