Quist Weekly News
April 29, 2022
Dear ROYALS Families,
This week was Administrative Professionals week. We are so grateful for our wonderful office staff at Quist. If you have an opportunity to thank them, please do! Next week is Staff Appreciation Week. Please consider writing a note of thanks and appreciation to our staff members who have made a positive impact for your child this school year. Thank you to our PAC and Royal Patrol groups for your help in planning a few of the treats this upcoming week.
This week you should have received the permission slips for the end-of-year field trips. Please make sure to see those as well as some of the behavior expectations involved. If you have any questions about the trips, please reach out to your child’s Pathways teacher. Here is a quick summary of the trips and additional information from last week’s newsletter in case you need it again.
6th Grade will be going to Boondocks on May 24th. Permission slips came home this week.
7th Grade will be going to Sky Zone on May 20th. Permission slips were sent home a few weeks ago with behavioral expectations on the back. If you have not seen one, please check with your student. You can also reach out to your student's pathways teacher. Each guardian must complete the SkyZone waiver.
8th Grade will be going to Elitch Gardens on May 20th. Permission slips went home this week along with the behavioral expectations.
8th-grade Continuation is scheduled for May 24th at 1 pm. Due to our gym capacity of 900 and current student enrollment, we are asking families to a limit of two guests, per student. We are working on a live stream option to ensure all that want to see this have the opportunity. Our 8th-grade team is looking for donations for this event. We have a small budget to host a student BBQ and want to make it big! If you are able, we could use donations, click here to view the items needed and sign up.
The last two weeks of school, we will be collecting students’ Chromebooks. At this time, students will return their Chromebook and if repairs are needed, fines will be assessed through our technology department. We will send out specific information next week about what the 8th-grade collection will look like.
Finally, next week is opening night for our first musical here at Quist, Captain Bree and Her Lady Pirates! All of our Quist students will be able to watch the dress rehearsal, either in person or through a live stream, due to space in the cafetorium. Break a leg, Royals!
Thank you for your continued partnership.
Best,
Trina Norris-Buck, Ed.S.

All matches/meets have been added to our school website - please check there for schedules of events.
As of Thursday, our Girl's team was undefeated and our Boy's team has not had a win yet. I will keep you posted about how the end of the season will look for us. Officially, our last scheduled games are next week.
Our end of season celebration will be May 12. Athletes will need to turn in clean jerseys & locks by this date to avoid any fines. Families can donate individually wrapped chips/cookies or water/Gatorade. SignUp Genius links will follow.
Track
For the invitational, only the top 3 competitors from each team will be permitted in each event. Coaches are tabulating these results now and we will be sharing these lists soon.
All athletes are welcome and encouraged to continue to come to practice, as this will help them improve AND help push their peers who are headed towards the Invitational.

All Spring Sports
Locks & lockers were checked out to athletes who wanted them this week. Lockers are optional and if a lock is not returned, a $5 fine will be assessed at the end of the season.
If you want to receive text updates from me/coaches, we will use the Remind App. Here is the link for soccer; here is the link for track.
Practice continues this week. Next contest for soccer is May 3 vs Vikan (Boys are home, girls are away) and May 5 vs Overland Trail (Boys are away, girls are home). The 27J MS League Invitiational is Saturday, May 7th, at Bulldog Stadium, behind Brighton High School, from 9-1. The 27J League Invitiational will be by invite only, based on top performing times/distances throughout the season. All are welcome to come cheer.
Please check IC for fees that need to be paid. All fees must be paid before participation in contests can happen. Please bring payment (cash or check) to the RQMS main office. Please contact Kate Brown if you have questions.
Athletes must have a current physical submitted (FamilyID or brought to RQMS office) before any participation in either practice or contests can happen.
Eligibility is pulled on Thursdays and shared with athletes during practices on Fridays. If an athlete is not eligible, this impacts next week's games. In order to become eligible and participate/travel with the team, the athlete needs to complete an Eligibility Rubric (here is the link) AND improve the grade in the classes with D or F grades. 2 or more Ds or 1 F is considered ineligible. Additionally, an athlete could be ineligible if they are not showing RISE/ROAR behaviors in their classes. If there are concerns, teachers will communicate with families about what is happening and coaching will be provided to show improvement. Rubrics are also available in the office and from coaches.
Thank you for all your support and grace! We are so excited to offer sports programming to all our students this year.
Take care,
Catherine "Kate" Brown
