Fourth Grade Weekly Announcements
December 15, 2014
A Note From Ms. Frehner
Happy Monday!
This is our last week before Winter Break begins. Winter Break will start at the end of the school day this Friday, December 19th, and we will return Monday, January 5, 2015. While these two weeks are yours to take off and relax, if you are behind in any of your courses, I strongly recommend working to catch up during break. A course overview will be kmailed out later this week so you can see where your actual progress is in relation to your expected progress.
Also during Winter Break, NVVA will be holding two 2-Day Camps that will be devoted to math and literacy for students in 3rd through 8th grade. Be looking out in your kmail for more information and how to sign up if you're interested in attending.
Tutoring hours this Friday will be held during their normal time. From 12:00-12:45, we will be doing activities working with fractions. If you need additional help with fractions, please sign up for the 12:00 time slot. I will have tutoring groups from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. If you feel like you could benefit from a reading or math group, please let me know. I will be available for open tutoring from 3:00-4:00. I would love to see more of you take advantage of this FREE tutoring opportunity. If you receive a group tutoring kmail from me, I strongly urge you to attend. If you are interested in my open tutoring hour, please RSVP HERE.
During the month of December, students who complete one lesson in every subject each day will be entered for a raffle drawing.
The first semester of the school year ends January 16, 2015. As we begin the second semester, there will be a change in our ELA live sync classes. We will shift the focus from the Literature course to the GUM and Composition courses. Check out the calendar attached below to see where you should be in each course by January 20th when semester two begins.

Typing Resource
It is SO incredibly important that you are learning how to type correctly, especially with the SBAC coming up this year (which is computer based and will require a strong typing foundation). I have found a pretty good website that teaches typing skills and is FREE!
Check out TypingWeb.com, and sign up for a free account to keep track of your typing progress.
