Parkside Eagle Press
May/June 2018, Vol. 24 Issue 4
From the Principal's Desk:
Greetings, Parkside Families!
Amazingly, the end of this school year is now only a few weeks away. The late spring went a long way in helping the students stay focused, and we are now wrapping up most of our year-end testing.
It was wonderful seeing so many families at our Arts and Academics Night a few weeks ago. The students are so proud of their work and are so excited to share their accomplishments. Thank you also for your generous donations for our Silent Auction Baskets. We raised about $2,200 for our student activity fund! We are committed to providing each grade level the option to take two field trips each year, as well as providing an annual arts residency program of some type. These funds will greatly help!
As we wrap up our year, I would like to congratulate Mrs. Ely, Mrs. Williams, and Mrs. Gillespie on their retirements! We wish them well as they now have more time to spend with their families, and I will introduce you to our new staff members next August.
Have a wonderful summer - take care...
-Michelle Robinson, Principal

Parkside Yearbooks Coming Soon!
We are excited to announce that Parkside is providing a new and improved yearbook this year to all Parkside students! This yearbook is being made in-house and will include candid photos, as well as new and updated photos taken of each class. It will feature covers designed by Parkside students!
We think this yearbook will have a personal Parkside touch, and we are happy to provide one at no cost to students. However, if you are willing and able to provide a donation of $2-$3 per child in your family, that would help offset our printing costs. Any donations may be brought to the office in an envelope labeled "Yearbook Donations".
Yearbooks will be distributed to students during the last week of school, and students will be provided with time for autographs.K-4 Field Day 2018

BHM Schools Summer Food Program
BHM Schools will be offering free breakfast and lunch to area children age 18 and under this summer due to a special program provided by federal funding. The goal of this program is to make sure all youth in our community have access to nutritious meals while school is out for the summer.
For the safety of all children, the school district requests a responsible adult or older child bring the younger children to the cafeteria and stay with them.
The BHM Summer Food Service Program will be offered at the Discovery Elementary Cafeteria and Montrose Elementary Cafeteria Monday through Friday from June 13-August 24. Breakfast will be served from 8:00-8:45AM and lunch will be served from 11:45AM-12:30PM. Adult breakfasts may be purchased for $2.25 and adult lunches are $4.00.
