Please join us on Friday, January 31st...
This Friday, January 31st at 6:00 we will celebrate our #WhyYouMatterYearTwo project funded by N.E.F. (Northville Education Fund)
Come for the community unveiling of our second year of the amazing #WhyYouMatter campaign. This Friday, please join us to see your child's Flag hanging in our school expressing “Their Why?"
Their “Why” might be: What drives them? What gives them purpose? What makes them happy? What would they like to see in the world? We would love for you to join us in this Silver Springs community building endeavor.
Please support our Dad’s Club too by attending their Souper Bowl Challenge which is happening at the same time (6-8). There you can enjoy fellowship with our Silver Springs Community over a bowl of soup or five as well.

“Can” You Share the Love?
Our drive will run from February 3rd through the 14th. This year we will have a contest to see which classes can donate the most items. The winners from upper elementary and lower elementary will each earn a pizza party!
We would also like to set a school goal of collecting 500 items. If we are able to reach that goal, the whole school will earn an extra recess. Let's synergize and make this year's food drive a success!

No commitment or involvement is needed to JOIN!
Mr. Kiebler, a big PTA supporter, is willing to do a BACKFLIP for every 20 new members in January.
Thank you to those who have just joined and all our 2019-2020 Members!

The Silver Springs 5th Grade Classes present: Highway U.S.A!
We are looking forward to the music concert on Tuesday, January 28 at 6:30pm (Miller, Gerlach, Jaskiewicz). Students should be in their classrooms by 6:10pm. Students should plan to wear a plain black shirt (no writing) and blue jeans. Since we will be doing the concert for the student body during the day, students should also have their black shirt/blue jeans with them during the school day on Tuesday, January 28.
Please encourage your students to rehearse their songs on my website (mrskreiss.weebly.com). All concert songs are through the 5th grade link and can be played on any device that has access to the internet. You can even play them through the Bluetooth speakers in your car!
I look forward to seeing you on January 28!
-Kristin Kreiss, music teacher
P.S. In case of a school cancellation, our back-up date is Feb. 4

Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
7-Habits Take Home Activity for January
This month’s Habit: Habit 3 Put First Things First
Activity: Color, Symbol, Image
Due Date: January 31, 2018
Habit #3 Put First Things First- "Work First, Then Play"
What this means: Focus on what is important, schedule the important things first. Don’t be a dreamer - stay focused!
“I spend my time on things that are most important.”
“I say no to things I know I should not do.”
“I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow my plan.”
“I am disciplined and organized.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Do your homework as soon as you come home from school.
2. Do something you have been putting off for a long time.
3. Think about your most important responsibilities. Do them first.
Great Books for Habit #3- Put First Things First
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
Pokey and the Spelling Test by Sean Covey
How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss
Whistle for Willie by Ezra Jack Keats
Froggy Gets Dressed by Jonathan London
The Little Red Hen by Paul Galdone
