Dr. Harmer Message-Eagleville Rededication Ceremony-Art Show-Book Fair-Orff Ensemble

It has certainly been a long journey during the Eagleville construction. Students, staff, and the community have been so supportive, and we are more than thrilled with the results. Last nights ribbon cutting ceremony was a great way to celebrate. The Eagleville Art Show, Family Book Fair Night. and Orff Ensemble performance added to the excitement. Thank you to all our families that were able to make it, we had a huge turnout!

Rodrigues Fruit Bat Help Spread Awareness

Eagleviile Elementary Challenge students, as part of the Rodrigues Warriors team from all four District elementary schools, recently presented to 2nd through 4th grade classrooms to spread awareness and educate people about the Rodrigues Fruit Bat and its challenges. They have been working on an animal awareness campaign with the Philadelphia Zoo. You can help by visiting their website and taking the pledge to help these bats. Their goal is to have as many people visit the site, learn about the bats, and take the pledge as possible. SHARE THEIR WEBSITE AND LINKS ON YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA!

Standards Based Grading

The Methacton School District uses a standards-based grading system for students in grades K-4. This system helps us more accurately measure students’ mastery of PA Core Academic Standards in all subjects. The elementary report cards have been revised to reflect the changes to the state standards and Methacton’s curricula. The goal of this approach to reporting is to provide parents, students, and teachers with a detailed picture of what students know and are able to demonstrate. The information provided on the report card encourages dialogue about areas of strength and need, and how our students can continue to grow academically.

This article, Seven Reasons for Standards-Based Grading, explains more about standards-based grading.

As your child’s teacher explained during our Back-to-School night, I CAN statements have been developed to share with you what skills your child is being assessed on and the expectation of mastery for each trimester. The I CAN statements are listed on our MSD Family Center.

Counselor's Corner

First graders are learning about Heart Talk as a way to share feelings. They can say “I feel _________ when you ___________” as a way to let others know when they get a bit feeling over a situation. By learning to use a healthy expression of feelings at a young age, children can develop the foundation of positive relationships. Try practicing Heart Talk with your family at home. For more relationship concerns, contact Lori Shaw, School Counselor - 610-489-5000 X41207 or LShaw@methacton.org
