The cause of astigmatism.

"Astigmatism is a condition in which the cornea, the transparent layer that covers the front part of the eyeball, is not symmetrical" (WebMD, 2015). If the corneas can't bend the way they should then the light rays that enter the eye and focus onto the retina are reflected back and do not receive the light rays in a normal fashion. If the does not happen then a persons vision will be blurry and some cases no vision at all.

In conclusion it isn't always imperative to have a astigmatism disorder medically corrected even with glasses or contacts. Many people live their whole lives without ever having it corrected. It depends on the severity of the visual problem it may cause.
