TEDxYOUTH @Clarkston

Saturday, April 18th, 6:30pm

Clarkston Junior High School (Performing Arts Center) 6595 Waldon Road, Clarkston, MI 48346

In an effort to provide an opportunity for Oakland County school districts to showcase their innovative practices and students, learn about surrounding districts, and discuss the future of education, Clarkston Community Schools will be hostingTEDxYouth@Clarkston. More specifically, a group of junior and senior students at Clarkston High School, collectively known as the Thinking Project, will be holding this event on Saturday, April 18th, 2015.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. The TEDx program is a local, self-organized event that brings people together to share a TED-like experience, with the "x" meaning independently organized TED event. A TEDxYouth conference has youth speakers and is often run by youth.

Attendees: The leaders in education in Oakland County!

Peers Making Peace: Facilitator Training

Thursday, April 30th, 9pm

2111 Pontiac Lake Road

Waterford charter Township, MI

Peers Making Peace (PMP) is an award winning and widely recognized school based peer mediation program. Oakland Mediation Center is the only entity in Michigan credentialed to train school staff in Peers Making Peace.

Peer mediation programs train identified students as neutral third parties to intervene and assist other students in the resolution and management of interpersonal disputes.

Peer mediation gives students an opportunity to resolve the conflict at hand and strategies to handle similar problems in the future without having an adult solve their problems for them.

Includes three sessions: April 30, May 7th and May 14th, 2015.
