Sherman School Counselor Updates
News for Families from Ms. Cleavland
Hello Sherman Families!
After winter break, we dive into a very busy few months, especially for our 8th graders. This message serves as a way to inform you about important dates, events, and happenings related to our school counseling program at Sherman. Please contact me if you have questions!
Laura Cleavland, School Counselor
School Makes A Difference: January 15
- I can articulate the responsibilities of various careers.
- I can articulate the type of postsecondary education and training required for various careers that are interesting to me.
- I can describe the career development process that others have taken.
- I can describe ways my experiences and aspects of my identity (ethnicity, religion, family, gender, etc.) have influenced my definition of a successful student and person.
SMAD is an opportunity for students to listen to adults share their career journey, learn about various careers, and engage in a brief dialogue with presenters. This is an important part of developing career awareness as a youth. We are looking forward to welcoming a diverse group of local community members into our school to speak to our 8th graders. Ask your child about it after January 15!
