Book Review

A good reason to read Pride and Prejudice is because genuinely it is really funny. Jane Austen is very comical and she captures a lot of that in the book. It isn’t always sappy and love story-y. If boys have sense of humor they would enjoy it. The proposal scene between Elizabeth and Mr. Collins is genuinely funny. Elizabeth is freaked out herself but it is very comical. Her sisters come barging in when he leaves and they are about to fall on the floor from laughing so hard. It is funny because it is so awkward. Elizabeth’s father is also a very funny man. He is surrounded by 5 daughters and a crazy wife. He seems to always say so sane and crack many jokes but mostly they are hidden and under his breath but if you read closely you can always see his witty comments. We all love a good happy ending also. It’s fun to see Elizabeth change so much. She starts off hating Darcy and wanting absolutely nothing to do with him. You believe that Elizabeth will never fall out of the prejudice views of him. She finally does though and it is cute to watch it all fall into place. Anyone could also really relate with this book because there is real life drama. Sometimes you will go through those relationships with the crazy mom that doesn’t approve of you. In this case it was Mr. Darcy’s aunt. It could teach you a lot about future relationships even though it was so far in the past. It’s also a very intelligence booster. There are a lot of quotes to memorize and say in real life situations today.

The people who should read Pride and Prejudice, for one are the love story type of people. It’s the typical love story. Also the typical happy ending. You have Elizabeth, the girl that didn’t like the boy who was absolutely in love with her and she never gave him the type of day. But they end up getting together and at the end it works out for both of them. Also the comical type of people should read this book, like I said in my first paragraph there are a lot of comical scenes and quotes in this book. Lastly anyone dealing with a crazy family, or just overall lifestyle could really relate to this book and nothing is better than reading a book and understanding and feeling exactly what they go through.

This book teaches a lot of values, but the most important to me is that just because you are in different situations than someone doesn’t mean that those two people can’t be happy together. People tried to not let it be okay that Darcy liked Elizabeth but against all odds they made it work. Another value this book teaches is that family should be the most important and you should support each other through anything. In this book Elizabeth’s family isn’t very supportive in some concepts but at the end of the day you know how much each of them loves each other.

Modern Scene

I’m going to be doing the scene when Elizabeth is walking out from her house the morning after Mr. Darcy’s aunt came and talked to Elizabeth the night before and she sees Darcy.

So Elizabeth was walking out from Starbucks with a Grande mocha Frappuccino. The night before was really upsetting for Elizabeth. Having Mr. D’s aunt come talk to her and integrate her was a real wakeup call so she thought she would take a stroll. It was muggy and rainy outside. She was texting her BFF Jane when she looked up and saw Mr. D walking from the distance. He was coming from Canes. Elizabeth was standing there in her cute cuffed skinnies with a sweater and there was Mr. D with his cute leather jacket and jeans from the buckle with some Janoskis. He came closer and she started to speak “I didn’t sleep at all last night so that’s why I got a Frappuccino this morning”. “He agreed”. As he went on he said “was my aunt here”? She said “Yes, she came in her convertible and woke my whole family up”. He apologized on her behalf. She then said “Well since you did a great deal for my sisters and got them hitched, I should be thanking you”. He went on saying “You’re the reason I did all those things girl. A boy was just thirsty and trying to get your attention, but Elizabeth if you do still like me which you have been kind of acting like it in text lately then let me know”. Then Elizabeth jumped into his arms and kissed him and seconds later she tweeted, instagrammed, vined, and tumblr’d about their proposal and they lived happily ever after.
