Gananda Drama Club Presents Curtains
Gananda's High School Drama Club proudly presents 'Curtains,' a murder-mystery musical comedy whodunit, March 27-29. When the terrible leading lady of an even worse, new Broadway-bound musical mysteriously drops dead on Opening Night, Lieutenant Frank Cioffi arrives on the scene to solve the crime (and save the show!). With the suspense and plot twists of an Agatha Christie novel, the screwball antics of an 'I Love Lucy' episode, and a musical score from the creators of the hit musicals 'Chicago' and 'Cabaret,' 'Curtains' is not to be missed!
Senior Dominic Petrucci stars as Lieutenant Frank Cioffi with key suspects: Bossy producer Carmen (junior Hannah Van Scoy), flippant director Christopher Belling (senior Rocco Olivieri), feuding composer Aaron (senior Alex Beenhouwer) and lyricist Georgia (senior Hope Worcester), naive ingenue Niki (sophomore Kat Harms), vengeful chorine Bambi (sophomore Olivia Davis), and lovesick choreographer Bobby (sophomore Nathan Clarcq). Rounding out the list of suspects are seniors Ariel Gaziano, Logan Muha, Kaitlyn Nichols; juniors Ashlyn Bolte-Pauley, Angelina Cantatore, Rosetta Famellette; sophomores Ethan Kuntz and Erica Levandoski; freshmen Gabrielle Brice, Maria D'Agostino, Josie LaDuke, Victoria Rivera, and Molly Tichacek.
The student crew includes Shawn Foglia, Lillian Freeman, Morgan Gardner, Sam Gaziano, Nicole Jerzak, Monica Krym, Angie Marra, Marissa Rivera, Matthew Rothwell, Katarina Rutman, Courtney Sicker, CJ Springer, Abby Parulski, Ian Poulsen. The High School Drama Club's 2020 production has vocal direction by Mr. Jed Kovalovsky, pit direction by Mrs. Kate Logan, and technical direction by Mrs. Regina Swartout. Club adviser Greg Maddock serves as director and choreographer.
Performances are March 27 & 28 at 7:30 pm, March 29 at 2:00 pm, at Susan H. Alexander Performing Arts Center at Ruben A. Cirillo High School. Tickets are $8 Adults, $7 Students and Seniors. Run time: 2 hrs 30 min. Rated: PG-13 for mild language and dark comedy.
'Curtains' opened on Broadway in 2007 with book by Rupert Holmes, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb with original book and concept by Peter Stone. The production, starring David Hyde Pierce and Debra Monk, received 8 Tony nominations including Best Musical. 'Curtains' is presented through special arrangement with Theatrical Rights Worldwide.

#Unity Spanish 4 students wrote and illustrated their own children’s stories. Scott Gibala Broxholm, a Gananda resident and published author and illustrator, assisted with the ideas in the initial phase and then over the course of 6 weeks, they refined the stories. The project culminated with our trip to School 12 where they read their stories to the kids in the HOLA bilingual program. It’s a program comprised of native English and native Spanish speakers in grades K-3. | #Outstanding Congratulations to the following sixth graders who participated in last weekend's All-County Music Festival: Jackson Giancursio on trombone Claire Dohse on clarinet Annamarie Parulski on clarinet Madison Olsen on trumpet Josie Herrmann on tenor saxophone We are #GanandaProud of their hard work and dedication to music which allowed them to be selected to participate in this prestigious festival. | #DrivenLast Thursday, February 27, Gananda National Honor Society (NHS) welcomed 19 new members!

Tetanus booster shots are recommended every 10 years after the initial series is given. If you experience a puncture wound, it's best to get the booster shot regardless of when you had your last tetanus shot. Always check with your physician first or if you have any concerns.

Heart and Soul Registration is Now Open
Heart & Sole is Girls on the Run's middle school program that meets the unique needs of girls in 6th-8th grade. The program considers the whole girl - body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection - in a positive, structured space where girls can learn about themselves, explore new ideas, cultivate empathy and strengthen connections. Running is incorporated into each lesson to encourage physical wellness and teach life skills such as team building, creating a support system, standing up for themselves and others and decision making. The girls prepare for a celebratory Girls on the Run 5K event at the end of the program. This non-competitive event fosters goal setting and a sense of confidence through accomplishment to last a lifetime.
