Powell Publisher
Week of November 18-22, 2019
A Note From Mrs. Garrison
We are excited about our upcoming grade level spelling bees and Thanksgiving activities planned in our classrooms next week!
CISD is celebrating "Generation Texas" next week. This is about the belief that all students belong on the path to education beyond high school! During this week, we will emphasize the great possibilities for your child's future on morning announcements. All students are encouraged to wear a college shirt to school on Friday, November 22.
The CISD Police Department is holding it's Children in Santa's Dream Toy Drive now. You can deliver donations to our front office. Please see the flyer below. Your donations go directly to CISD students and are deeply appreciated!
Mark your calendars now for our Annual Interfaith Holiday Food Drive and first-ever PTO Holiday Jingle Jam on Friday, December 13th. During specials, each grade level will participate in the food drive and then celebrate the holiday season with fun activities. Our PTO will have an inflatable obstacle course, slide, holiday themed games, activities, and milk and cookies for each child. We will need volunteers and will have a link in next week's Publisher.
During this month of gratitude, I want to thank each of you for your love and support of our teachers and school. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Lisa

Nominations for Gifted and Talented Testing
Nominations are now open for Conroe ISD Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until the end of January, nominations are accepted from October 1- December 19th. Nominations can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in nominating your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Nominations will be accepted no later than December 19, 2019. Please see the attachment for the nomination form and submit it to our GT coordinator, Sarah Radford at sradford@conroeisd.net. Paper forms can also be turned into the front office.
