IMPORTANT
A Note to Parents
When is the last day of school for students?
All student work for 2019-20 must be completed by the end of the day on Friday, May 15. Photos of signature sheets must be e-mailed by this time.
When can students get their supplies out of the buildings?
Custodians will begin cleaning out school lockers/cubbies and placing student items in containers for pickup. A Swiftcall, web posting, instagram notification, and message board notice will be made to announce the date you may drive through to pick up items. You are asked to STAY IN YOUR CAR and your items will be delivered to you. We will notify you of a date as soon as we complete the cleanout process. Items will be delivered in the back parking lot by the football field.
How do I pick up medication that was in the nurse’s office?
Email nurse laurie.west@uc.k12.in.us or contact your school’s principal.
Isn't this the truth right now?
Day #11 Agenda
Plant Life: What is a Seed?
RDT2G8
Since we do not yet have student e-mail accounts, you will need to have a parent help you fill in the bottom portion "Enter the information in the fields below." When asked to create a user name and a password , it might just be easier on you to make it the same as your ixl username and password abc123 . This will be a good site for you to visit during the summer to keep your reading skills up to snuff.
Of course, you may still simply read the passage by clicking on the included download.
Today's activity is to add your own captions to the photographs in the text. Remember, captions are important text features in informational text.
Life Cycle of Plants
Yesterday we examined the various stages of a plant's life cycle and looked at the parts of a seed. Today, let's look at the various parts of a plant and determine exactly what plants need. After listening to my presentation, you should be able to fill out the optional recording sheet which may be downloaded below.
Math: Partitioning Rectangles
"Partition a rectangle into rows and columns of same-size (unit) squares
and count to find the total number of same-size squares."
You Choose
Option 1: Play the card game Total of 10. Set out 20 cards face up on the table (with picture cards removed). The first player takes 2 or more cards off the table which have a total of 10. The aim of the game is to clear the table and be the player with the most cards at the end. Click here for more detailed instructions.
Option 2: How about a little more tangram fun? Click here to explore making fun shapes with these fun Chinese puzzle pieces.
Flipgrid: Would You Rather?
Did you remember that the Flipgrid app is available for free for both iPhone and Android phones? That is truly the easiest way into Flipgrid.
Let's get back into Flipgrid "Would You Rather?" Once in, the instructions will tell you what to do. To begin your video, simply click the green circle with the white plus sign. Just remember, your video does not submit until after you take that selfie!
If you are using a desktop or laptop with a webcam, click here to get to our grid. Depending on which device you're using, you might be asked to enter flip code. It is the following:

Magic Ramen!
"The world is peaceful only when everyone has enough to eat, "Momofuku Ando thought after seeing his people lined up in the bitter cold waiting for the smallest bit of food. This was in Japan after World War II. Haunted by this, Momofuku worked day and night in his backyard shed to create a new noodle soup that was tasty in order to feed the hungry. It took persistence, creativity, and growth mindset, but he succeeded.
Slurp up the true story behind one of the worlds most popular foods! RAMEN!!!!!!
OPTIONAL Science: The Tiny Seed
Watch Eric Carle’s The Tiny Seed. It is a perfect book to talk about the ways seeds travel.
