MB Lion's Link

Middlebrook Mountain Lions

November 23, 2022

Dear Middlebrook Families,

First Selectwoman Vicki Tesoro came to visit Middlebrook this week to celebrate our summer reading with 4th and 5th graders who participated in Trumbull’s First Selectman Super Summer Reading Challenge. Students volunteered to share the book they read, a brief summary, and if they would recommend it to their peers. She handed out certificates and a small gift to the students. The challenge was for incoming 4th and 5th grade students to read and record books on their summer reading log between June and August. Middlebrook had over 50 students participate!

Middlebrook School's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Our super second graders have been learning about the rich history of the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade (which began in 1924 to help immigrants celebrate their cultures because they missed their homelands) through integration of all parts of our curriculum. Our classes built floats based on their research of fairy tales, American legends, monuments and faraway places. They have been studying the map route, solving word problems, understanding the STEM behind creating floats and building balloons.

Enjoy the pictures from our version of the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade!!

Wear PJs—Support Kids with Cancer

Connecticut Children's Hospital

As long as children are battling cancer and Connecticut Children's expert staff are treating them, the Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders needs your support. We can all stand together with kids battling cancer.

Since 2011, more than $2 million has been raised in support of Connecticut Children's Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders, with more than $665,000 raised in 2021 alone.

Together, $1 (or more) at a time, we are making a difference!

You can make a donation on our Middlebrook team fundraising page for Connecticut Children's Foundation, Inc. - https://give.connecticutchildrens.org/team/463744

On December 9th, wear PJ's to school to support kids with cancer.
