Welcome to Knightly News!

Greetings, Washington Parents!

Welcome to Knightly News, an electronic newsletter for Washington Knight families. Knightly News is just one additional way to keep in touch with all of the happenings at Washington School. First and foremost, we encourage you to regularly check your child's backpack and our website including the web calendar. We also invite you to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter @washcusd200.

Thank You for Your Support!

We cannot thank you enough, Washington Parents, for your support this month with the 5Essentials Survey and PARCC testing. We have exceeded the 20% participation rate for parents participating in the 5Essentials, so Washington will receive a report of your feedback. Thank you to those who responded! Also, thank you very much to parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders for your support during PARCC testing. Students demonstrated positive attitudes and focus; we appreciate the help you provided by encouraging your child to do his/her best work and by getting them to school on time. Our tentative dates for the second PARCC window will be April 27, 28 and 29. The second round of PARCC testing includes just three tests instead of five. More information will be coming after spring break.

4L Creates Video Trailers for LLC Books!

Mrs. Lipnisky's class used WeVideo to film trailers for books in the Washington LLC. Soon QR codes will be placed on the books, so students interested in the books can watch a brief preview before deciding whether the book is a "good fit" book for them. You can watch one of the video trailers below or see them all by clicking this link:

Mileage Club is Back!

Beginning April 7th, Mileage Club returns during recess on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday each week! Thank you to the following parents who have agreed to share the reponsibilities and keep this popular activity going: Mrs. Kading, Mrs. Baumhauer, Mrs. Diehl, Mrs. Colton, Mrs. Hoyman, Mrs. Varney, and Mrs. Dansdill.

Recess Issue

Parents, we need your help with a recess safety issue. Some students are bringing soccer balls, footballs, and basketballs to school to use during recess. We ask that if your child does so, please provide a bag for him/her to carry the ball and instruct your child to keep the ball in the bag at all times going to and from school.

Health Requirements

If you will have a child in kindergarten or 6th grade next year, please check out the health requirements on the CUSD200 health services page: Health Requirements. A packet of health information for 5th graders went home along with report cards last Friday.

Reading with Ozzie!

Ozzie’s Reading Club is in full swing! Please turn in any ticket slips last week; Mr. Babb will also accept them the day we return from spring break, April 6th. The Cougars game will be on Monday, May 11th, 2015.
